The Twentieth Century Club of Buffalo is considered to be one of the oldest and most historic private women’s clubs in the United States. Located at 595 Delaware Avenue, the club was founded in 1894. The Twentieth Century Club reflects the growth of the national women’s club movement and the increased influence of women generally in American life. It was officially designated among the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior in June of 2011.
The Twentieth Century Club’s elegant classical revival clubhouse, designed by the late legendary E.B. Green and built in 1896, serves as an important reminder of the city’s outstanding architectural history. The building played an important role during the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo and continues to host some of the most important events in the city.
Join Explore Buffalo as members of the Twentieth Century Club take us on a tour of this beautiful Delaware Avenue landmark. As we are guided through the stunning interior spaces, they will relate the history of the Club as well as its continued impact on Buffalo today. The Club will be de decked out in festive holiday decorations as we enjoy refreshments in the same venue that has hosted Eleanor Roosevelt, Booker T. Washington, Robert Frost, and many others.
Parking is available in the Club’s parking lot, on Franklin Street north of Allen Street directly behind the Club. When using the Club’s parking lot, enter the Club through the rear entrance on Franklin Street.
