Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in 1989 as the Moscow Festival Ballet under the direction of Bolshoi Theatre’s Sergei Radchenko, Honored Artist of Russia. The first independent company of classical ballet in the former Soviet Union developed rapidly, with a great deal of international touring. It was decided that a second troupe – Russian National Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Elena Radchenko, soloist dancer of Mariinsky – Kirov Theatre and Bolshoi Theatre – would be established. With solid knowledge of classical ballet and character dance, combined vast performance experience, a strong will and infinite dedication to the art of the ballet, the company gained notoriety, respect and a following of audiences around the world. RNBT strives to provide audiences with the opportunity to experience classical Russian ballet, one of Russia’s great cultural heritages. The troupe’s repertoire includes many ballet masterpieces: “Swan Lake”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Don Quixote”, “Giselle”, “Carmen Suite”, “La Bayadere”, “The Nutcracker,” “Cinderella,” “Coppelia” “Les Sylphides”, “Romeo and Juliet,” as well as a wide range of concert numbers of Russian and foreign world classics.
