The Seneca Mile is a certified course along historic Seneca Street. It is a marquee race in the new South Buffalo Run Series. A post-race party with prizes, live music and refreshments will take place in the area of Cazenovia Park located adjacently to St. John’s parking lot.

All proceeds from The Seneca Street Mile will benefit The Coalition For A Vibrant Seneca Street.  The Coalition For A Vibrant Seneca Street is a group promoting an initiative to update the streetscape and improve the quality of life on and around Seneca Street.

The Coalition is excited to honor The Delaney Family at the 1st Annual Seneca Street Mile. The Delaney family has had deep roots in the Seneca Street community for over 50 years and has served their South Buffalo community with an immense amount of pride. In 1962 William and Jean Delaney purchased their home at 15 Indian Church. There, they raised a family and also operated William’s chiropractic practice. Tim Delaney, Sr., a City of Buffalo employee, still resides there today. His wife, Tina Delaney, is retired from St John’s Baker Victory Services as a teachers aide. The Delaney family established the Martina Delaney Golf Tournament in 2006 in honor of their late daughter, Martina. This charity has given back to the South Buffalo Community by way of scholarship for students attending SPHS and donating to local families in need.

Tim Delaney II lives on Teresa Pl with his wife Carolina and their young son TD lll. Tim II has been a teacher at South Park High School for the past 16 years as well as the School’s Varsity Football Coach. Tim’s team had a historic run in 2015 when they became the first city school to bring home a state title. Both Tim and Carolina were active in South Buffalo Football and Cheerleading throughout their youth. Tim is also the President of the Cazenovia Golf Men’s Club. The Delaney family is extremely deserving of this recognition, as it is families like this that are the backbone of our community.
