Jazz Samba!! Bossa Nova came to America like a cool but powerful force in the 60s era of blues drenched pop, hard bop, and avant garde jazz. It entered our consciousness through the music of Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, Bud Shank, Sonny Rollins, and many others. Bossa was an expression of a relationship between Brazilian and American jazz of the 50s. It represented a “cooling’ of samba from carnival to coffeehouses. The Wazmopolitans will feature some jazz samba and jazz bossa classics and music of originators of the music; Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto, who helped bossa develop and brought it to the US. Dave Wasik drums, Jack Kulp bass, Kevin Doyle piano.
