The Wurst Party in Buffalo is back! The German-American Musicians Association’s annual festival is fast becoming an integral part of Buffalo’s cultural festival scene, celebrating the traditional food, drink, and music of the Bavarian region of Germany. Originally established in the 1960s as a celebration of sausage and beer, Wurstfest! is experiencing a resurgence with a whole new audience at its new home, Buffalo River Fest Park. Their friends, Die Ausländers, will kick off the event by playing music from 12-3PM, followed by an official keg tapping.
The German-American Musicians, Buffalo’s BIG German band will then take over the stage to continue the festivities! Authentic German food will be available for purchase from Scharf’s German Restaurant und Bar and Schnitzel & Co. Test your strength by participating in the annual Stein Hoist Competition, or come dressed to see if you will be crowned this year’s Best Dressed Bavarian. Bring a stein to properly enjoy the different types of beer from the local breweries being featured this year. Don’t have a stein and need some German flair to really get into the celebrations? Stop by their German store to make your purchase. After the event, head across the river to Buffalo Riverworks to be a part of this year’s official after party, where your Wurstfest! wristband gets you a $1.00 off of drink specials.
Cost: $2 admission. This is a family friendly, all ages event. Must be 21 to drink.
