There’s a new place for cat lovers and coffee lovers to hang out, and it’s on Buffalo’s vibrant West Side. Meet Buckminster’s Cat Cafe.
When you come here, you get the cafe experience plus (you guessed it) cats! The cafe is divided into two distinct zones: a cafe and a cat-interaction zone. You can enjoy either or both spaces during your visit.
If you’re looking for a place to relax, unwind, study, or work with super cute companions, you need this coffee shop in your life.
The cafe side serves locally-roasted coffee from Tipico. They also have a small menu of sweet and savory foods, including vegan and gluten-free options.
- French Toast Sandwich
- Quiche of the Day
- Fresh Fruit
- Hummus Plate
- Whipped Brie Plate
- Gluten-Free Scones by Two Wheels Bakery
- Cat-shaped Cookies by Whisker Baking Co.
P.S. You’ll also find local craft beer and cider by the can and fine wines by the glass here.
If you aren’t looking for any one on one time with the cats, you can eat, study, or socialize in the cafe while watching all the action through the glass dividing wall.
The Cat Zone
You can pay $5 to enter the Cat Zone, where you’ll have the chance to meet and hang out with a group of adorable rescue kitties for an hour. This charge offsets the costs of housing and caring for the group of cats, who live full-time in the cafe until they are adopted. If you stopped at the cafe side first, you are welcome to bring your food and drinks in with you.
When the weather warms up, the Catio will open up. This is a protected outdoor space where the cats safely enjoy a little fresh air and sunshine in a very secured environment. Fun fact: Buckminster’s is one of only a handful of cat cafes worldwide that has an outdoor enclosure like this.
We love the fact that this cafe’s mission is feline-friendly. They teamed up with Second Chance Sheltering Network, a local cat rescue organization, to populate their Cat Zone with adoption-ready cats who need forever homes. Buckminster’s essentially serves as a communal foster home for a group of 6 to 8 pre-screened cats. Unless otherwise specified, all the cats up for adoption are WNY rescues.
