March Food/Drink/Dining News
Our mission: Construct a monthly list of new openings- restaurants, food trucks, cafes, pubs and breweries, etc. from the previous month. Instead of undertaking the nearly impossible task of predicting which restaurants will actually open in the upcoming month, we decided this strategy would be more valuable for everyone involved. With bureaucrats, bankers and bean counters, unpredictable weather and contractors involved, it’s hard to say when a restaurant is opening until it is already, in fact open.
Disclaimer: We recommend you call ahead to be sure you’ll find an open restaurant upon your arrival. Good Luck! Drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org if we missed any March openings/closings.
4914 Lake Shore Road, Hamburg / (716) 627-5551
A couple months ago we announced that Root Five on the waterfront in Hamburg had been put up for sale and quickly snatched up by the owners of the relatively new Public House of Buffalo on Hertel Ave. Frank, Sara and Lou wasted no time getting into the space, redecorating with reclaimed wood, chalkboards and a Buffalo head, and opening the Public House on the Lake right on target. They even hosted Easter Sunday brunch. Bring on patio weather.

The beloved Taffy’s Hot Dog Stand in Orchard Park has gone mobile just in time for what we’re sure will be the most epic food truck season WNY has seen yet. Why? Well for one, Taffy’s is offering over 100 milkshake flavors. So there’s that. No hot food though.

Allentown has it all going on now – as you can see from this list. Allen St. Poutine Co. is brought to you by two friendly Canadians who know poutine. The space, the atmosphere, the location, the food (THE FOOD)! We love everything about Allen Poutine. Have no fear, beer to come this summer.

If you were one of the many Buffalonians waiting patiently (or impatiently) for A.B.V. to grace us with it’s quality beer & burgers, the wait is over. But then you probably already knew that. This is one of those openings that we just can’t stop talking about. Everything from the decor to the friendly staff and the beer list to the freakishly good food is awesome. We predict A.B.V.’s patio will be a fav this summer.

Neighborhood: West Seneca
Maybe you thought the brewery train was slowing down. You were wrong. Early reports of this small brewing operation in a building behind Ebenezer Ale House in West Seneca are super positive. What can we say, people love reclaimed wood and local brewskis. Take it from us, checking out the new tasting room is worth the trip!
391 Washington St, Buffalo, NY 14203 / (716) 853-1505
We may have reported on this last month (and by may have we mean we did). We just couldn’t wait a whole month. Since their opening, public espresso has not only cranked out lattes, cortados, espresso, and pour-overs, they’ve managed to up their game (if it were possible) by adding Butter Block and Elm Street Bakery baked goods to the BreadHive bagels already on the counter.
