Everywhere You Can Get An Impossible Burger in WNY

It looks like meat; it acts like meat (starts out pink and cooks to brown); and it tastes like meat. But it’s not meat.

It’s the Impossible Burger.

According to Impossible Foods, the company that creates the burger, “Impossible delivers all the flavor, aroma and beefiness of meat from cows.”

Unlike previous companies marketing to non-meat eaters, Impossible Foods targets meat eaters. They want people who eat meat to try the Impossible Burger simply because it tastes just as good — if not better — than meat.

How do they do this? By replicating the juiciness, the sizzle and the texture of actual beef.

By many accounts, they’ve nailed it.

“I love the fact that I can order a burger that ‘bleeds’ and looks like a real burger instead of a patty of black beans and corn squished together,” says Bethany Williams, who grew up in Buffalo. “As much as I love regular veggie burgers, sometimes seeing the chopped up vegetables in my burger makes me feel like I am missing out on something, whereas the Impossible Burger lets me enjoy ‘cheating’ on my diet without the guilt after.”

She adds, “Eating an Impossible Burger gives me the closest experience possible to the taste and texture of a real burger without actually having red meat. It’s taken the idea of a veggie burger to a whole new level.”

Buffalo resident Dilpreet Kaur agrees.

“I am very impressed by the creation and concept behind it,” she says. “People who give up meat for religious, eco-friendly or any reason at all now now have a means of tasting something they loved once. Not to mention it’s so much healthier for our cardiovascular processes since it lacks the tremendous amounts of animal fat.”

More than 5,000 restaurants are serving the Impossible Burger, including a number of eateries here in Western New York. If your curiosity is piqued — or if you’re already an Impossible Burger lover — here are 15 places in Western New York to find one:

  • Have to chime in here and recommend NYE Park Tavern on Elmwood Ave, as well as Buffalo Melting Point on Allen (special sauce = WOW!), and Allen Burger Venture on Allen Street (especially with the truffle fries).
