In recent Buffalo food truck news, there are 2 new cuisines to look forward to – coming soon! The anticipation of trying a dish from a (hopefully) interesting, daring menu always excites me.  Entering into the Buffalo mix will be “da Blue” and “Betty Crockski”. Care for some details?

da Blue

Opening Date: Early February 2014

“da Blue” will be a spin off of The Blue Lantern Lounge on Seneca Street in Elma. How exciting! We can only hope that they bring an original & eclectic (see below) menu to the Buffalo Food Truck party. (Larkin Square is going to be CROWDED this summer…)

Here’s the dish from their website:

From the owners of The Blue Lantern Lounge, located at 6120 Seneca St., Elma, comes a new venture that will reach beyond its current brick and mortar location. The new da Blue Food Truck will burst onto the scene in early February, taking a unique “street eats” menu direct to the downtown Buffalo lunch scene. The food truck will be available for catering, private events and house parties based on availability. The slogan “Livin da Dream” is emblazoned on the all sides of the truck.

The Blue Lantern Lounge is known as ‘the best kept secret in South Towns’ so hopefully the new food truck will help it become a household name. They specialize in American Eclectic Cuisine including several featured dishes including Santa Fe Spring Rolls, Meatloaf, Panko Crusted Banana Peppers, Chicken Tenders, Pan Seared Scallops, Filet Mignon and Pasta De Loco to give you an idea what you might expect to be served at da Blue Food Truck.

Pre opening event: Customer Appreciation – Free Samples, Cash Bar, January 27th at 6120 Seneca St. at 6-8pm

Betty Crockski

Fancy pierogi & homemade sausage

Opening Date: March 2014, Officially April 21, 2014 Dyngus Day

Betty’s owners are Kate Hey and Dana Szczepaniak – read their bios on Betty’s snazzy site. I’m very excited about fancy pierogis. Who wouldn’t be? I wonder just how fancy they’re gonna get…

Here’s the dish from their website:

Betty is a Polish food truck. Betty is your friend.

Meet Betty, Buffalo’s first and only Polish food truck serving up fancy pierogi and homemade sausage! Betty is a Buffalo gal, so naturally she has a taste for Polish delights. The Polish flavor arsenal makes her salivate- charcuterie, root vegetables, stone fruits, all the cheeses—Betty is inspired by Poland’s native flavors, but she doesn’t stop there. Betty likes to have fun in the kitchen. She’s a playful chef with a flair for the yummy, making Polish classics for a modern palate. Traditional flavors and modern techniques: reimagined Polish soul food. Come meet Betty and taste her riffs on Polish fare!
