Whether your close group of girlfriends has been separated due to jobs, your busy schedules, or something off a long list of other reasons, it’s no excuse not to get together. That’s why we recommend taking time out of your busy schedules and stepping up your GNO, GGT, or whatever “they’re” calling it these days at these fun and sophisticated spots around downtown Buffalo.
Snooty Fox Lounge
Neighborhood: Business District
445 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14202 / (716) 843-3699
The Snooty Fox takes you into a chic New York City type atmosphere with sophisticated furniture and an elegant bar. The snooty fox is a trendy restaurant by day, and a sassy dance bar at night with music booming and cocktails flowing. I recommend the Gatsby made with One Roq Reserved, grapefruit juice, St. Germain, Ginger Ale and lime twist or the Lemon Ice made with citrus flavored vodka, Limoncella, Triple Sec and sour mix with a sugared lemon. There is a menu dedicated to “lady like” libations. Grab your girls, order a Gatsby and dance like the Spice Girls are blasting!
The Lodge Bar & Grill
79 W Chippewa St, Buffalo, NY 14202 / (716) 256-1940
If you went to school in Buffalo, it’s inevitable that you’ll have a soft spot (however small) for memories on the chip strip. Make last call a little earlier (and classier) this time around while sipping some delicious craft cocktails in lieu of vodka cran. You’ll find music to dance to, two stories of bars whipping up cocktails and sexy surrounds. My favorite is the “Bears like Berries” which is made up of Hendrick’s Gin and St. Germain liqueur, and finished with pure concord grape juice, apple cider, fresh squeezed lime, and fresh blueberries. Its bright colors and fresh flavors create a quite enjoyable combination.
Cecelia’s Ristorante & Martini Bar
Neighborhood: Elmwood Village
716 Elmwood Ave, Buffalo, NY 14222 / (716) 883-8066
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again, Cecelia’s is known for their large selection of specialty, premium, dessert and seasonal martinis as well as specialty cocktails and stuffed olive selections. My personal favorites include the Pink Grapefruit (Grapefruit vodka, a dash of grapefruit juice, sweet & sour, a splash of Sierra Mist & grenadine), the June Bug (Coconut rum, melon liqueur, crème de banana liqueur, a splash of pineapple juice, splash of sweet & sour, garnished with a cherry), and the Bellini (vodka, peach schnapps, and fresh lime juice in a sugar rimmed glass). Substitute the vodka for champagne in the Bellini for a sparkling peach martini. AS you can probably imagine, these tasty martinis are just the start to a great night filled with…several more martinis. Plus don’t forget their spacious outdoor patio that offers the perfect girls night out atmosphere on warm Buffalo nights.
153 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14201 / (716) 248-2092
This is for the more adventurous at heart, the sophisticated GNO if you will. You won’t find margs and girls who have had a few too many dancing on bars here (anymore). You will find a classy modern atmosphere, dim lighting and an enlightened food and drink menu. Think Black Mission Figs, Rabbit & Waffles, and a Brioche Donut for dessert. This Allentown lounge is perfect for a quiet girls night full of conversation and friends looking to try new things together.

The Chocolate Bar
114 W Chippewa St, Buffalo, NY 14202 / (716) 332-0484
If you’re looking for a more relaxing girls night out, the Chocolate Bar is a great location in downtown Buffalo to grab a martini and dessert! Although they do have savory food as well, the Chocolate Bar’s desserts and martinis are the stars of the show in my opinion. The desserts include crepes, a variety of hot chocolates like cinnamon bun or Chillies-N-Cherries, classic thick shakes, individual indulgences, slices, ice cream, frozen hot chocolates, or the chocolate bar specialties including one of my personal favorite desserts; Make Your Own S’mores! You actually toast your own marshmallows right at the table over an open flame, surrounded by all the proper accoutrements like Hersheys chocolate, graham crackers and a side of berries.
It seems as though their cocktail (or as Chocolate Bar likes to call them, liquid desserts) options are endless. There are spiked drinks, alpine chino’s, martinis, mojitos, flights, as well as beer, wine and champagne, and even non-alcoholic options. I usually venture towards the flights section of their menu because it gives you the opportunity to taste a few flavors. They offer the martini flight of the day which includes 3 mini versions of their martinis du jour. The chocolate shooters, served in a Belgian chocolate cup are a great way to kick off your girls night out, as well. Fill the edible glass with whatever you want and then eat it. Yes, you read right; you can eat the cup. They recommend filling it with Baileys, chocolate liqueur or Kahlua.
Chocolate Bar also offers special nights like “Martini and a Manicure” Mondays from 7-10pm or “Martini and a Massage” Wednesdays from 7:30-10pm. Yes, they are legit massages…I can’t believe it either! When you arrive on a Monday within the time frame, you can put your name on a list and order a drink. The specialist will call your name and you can come down with your cocktail, pick your color and enjoy a complementary manicure. On Wednesdays within the time frame, it is the same deal. You can order your drink while you wait and actually receive a 10 minute back and shoulder massage. Talk about relaxing.
