Gorgeous WNY summer nights call for the perfect evening spent at an outdoor flick. Buffalo has plenty of places showing outdoor movies throughout the season- and most are FREE! Time to grab your blankets, lawn chairs and favorite snacks- quick, before the show starts.

Movies in the Meadow @ Delaware Park

The Parkside Community Association is hosting their annual “Movies in the Meadow” program again this year, every Friday in August. The movies will take place in the gorgeous Delaware Park behind the Parkside Lodge, so bring some blankets and lawn chairs to get comfy! Refreshments will be available for purchase, or you can bring your own snacks and coolers!

Movies are free and start just after dusk.

Transit Road Drive-In

There has never been a better time to cross the drive-in off your bucket list- we’ve waited how long for this weather?! Projecting five screens, the Transit Drive-In offers more options than any outdoor theater around. If you’re up for it, go for a double-header and see TWO movies (with no extra cost!) like Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody, The Secret Life of Pets 2 and A Dog’s Journey, or Men in Black: International and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Tuesdays are Retro Movie Nights, where they show classics like The Sandlot, The Goonies and The Lion King! Showings start around 9pm.  Find out what’s showing now!

Admission charge is $10 for ages 12+, Children 5-11 are $6 and Children 4 and under are FREE. Snacks and concessions are available for purchase.

 

UB Summer Film Series

Believe it or not, you can catch some of 2019’s most popular movies (some within the last few months!) for FREE at UB’s Summer Film Series! The series is presented by the Undergraduate Student Association, and runs through the end of August on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Special Events Field next to the Student Union on the North Campus, and Wednesday at Hayes Hall lawn on the South Campus. The screenings are open to the UB community as well as the general public. If it rains, screenings will move indoors to Diefendorf 148 on the South Campus, or Knox 110 on the North Campus.

Screenings take place at 9:15 p.m. (June), 9 p.m. (July), and 8:45 p.m. (August)

Movies in the Park – Hamlin Park

Every Friday night in July and August, Hamlin Park will be showing a movie for the whole fam to enjoy! Refreshments are available for purchase, but make sure you BYO blankets and chairs! Movie Mondays On the Water @ Canalside

What’s better than a movie? A movie on the water, obvi. Movie Mondays will take place every Monday in July at 7pm at the Great Lawn / Clinton’s Dish and Garden Bar. The movie lineup is fun and family-friendly! While you’re waiting for the movie to start, Canalside has plenty of games and activities for the kiddos- and you might even be able to reserve yourself an Adirondack chair for the show!  BTW- these are totally FREE!

Family Movie Nights by Wegmans @ Buffalo Olmsted Parks

This FREE, outdoor family film series sponsored by Wegmans will take place August 9, 19 and 23 at one of the three popular Olmsted parks; Cazenovia Park, Delaware Park and Front Park (see schedule below for details). All screenings begin at dusk.

Green Acres Family Movie Night and Kids Pajama Party

Just when you thought an ice cream stand *with mini golf* couldn’t get any better, they’ve also got FREE movies every Wednesday night from July 10- August 14! The movies will begin at dusk on the grass next to the ice cream stand! And of course, there is a pajama party contest where a photographer will scout out nominees for the “Cutest Pajamas”, “Best Socks or Slippers” and “Best Themed Pajamas,” of whom winners for each category will be named 15 minutes before the movie starts- so be sure to get there as early as possible to get the chance to be scouted!

Dick Rd. Wegmans Movie Night

The Wegmans on Dick Rd is hosting a “movie under the stars” program throughout the summer on select Friday nights! The movies begin at 8pm, and will be shown at the outdoor cafe patio. Free snacks and beverages will be provided as well. Sign-up is required at the Dick Rd Wegmans customer service desk! Tuesdays Weekly Kids Night on the Beach @ Woodlawn Beach

Woodlawn Beach is hosting a free weekly kids night every Tuesday through August 27. Character Meet ‘n greets and other activities for children start at 7 pm, and the movie starts promptly at 8:30 pm. They will also be collecting non-perishable food donations for the Food Bank of WNY each Tuesday movie night. AND, you may also rent out one of their 12 cabanas for just $50 (which includes a $20 food voucher) to enjoy the movie under! *FREE* parking at the beach is available after 7pm! No outside food or beverages are allowed, but are available for purchase at the bar.

Woodlawn Beach is also hosting an *adult* movie night every Wednesday through August 28! These movies are geared more for adults, however children may come accompanied by an adult. No outside food or beverages are allowed, but are available for purchase at the bar. Movies start at 9pm.

Family Movie Night @ Buffalo Harbor

NY State Parks Interpretive staff is teaming up with Tifft Nature Preserve to prepare crafts and activities for kids and a movie afterwards every Wednesday evening July 10 to August 28! Activities will begin at 6pm, and the movie will start at 7pm. All events will take place near the playground at Buffalo Harbor.

Movie Nights in Williamsville

The Williamsville Business Association has two Friday outdoor flicks scheduled this summer for July 19 and August 23. Bring blankets, chairs, and your favorite snacks for a free family movie night! 

Movies will begin at dusk.

A trip to the drive-in is always a great way to spend a summer night with friends or a date. The Twin Delevan Drive-In is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for your viewing pleasure through sometime in October. With two screens and double features, you have choices to watch these films starting at dusk (around 9pm).  The ticket office opens at 7 pm daily and full concessions are available for purchase. Check out their Facebook page to find out what’s showing!

Tickets are $9.00 for adults (12 and up), $8.00 for seniors and Veterans, $6.00 for children (11-4) and ages 3 and under are free!

Sunset Drive-In

Expect nothing less than a true old-fashioned drive-in experience at the Sunset. Since 1950, they’ve been serving affordable family entertainment and food at the restaurant on site (open 4pm to close Tuesday-Sunday)! The drive-in is open Friday through Sunday for June 2019, but will move to everyday as the season goes on. With three screens, you’ve got a few options to choose from! Movies start around 9:15.

Admission: Adults and Children 12 and older- $9.00. Children 5-11-$4.00. Children Under 4 years of age- FREE.
