Ahh, the sweet summers of Western New York. We mope around all winter just for these few months of pure goodness. But there’s one thing that’s much needed to raise our vibrations even more during this much loved season… and that’s some good live music, duh.
There’s plenty of places around town to get down at, so don’t waste any more time.

You have zero excuses not to attend.

Buffalo Riverworks

Buffalo Riverworks has Friday evenings covered from 6-9pm and then end your wild weekends every Sunday from 1-4pm with live music action. Let’s not forget the glorious scenery of being on the patio along the river…I hope no more words need to be said to get your booties there.

Larkin Square

Larkin Square helps us get through the week during Food Truck Tuesdays. There’s always good tunage as your eatin’ and drinkin’ away. Can’t make it on Tuesday? Rolling on into Wednesday they hold their signature Live at Larkin Concert Series from 5-8:30pm. So end at least one of your work days with a little fun, would ya?

The U.S.S Little Rock at the Buffalo Naval and Military Park

The U.S.S Little Rock at the Buffalo Naval and Military Park holds a free gig every Tuesday from 6-8pm. Another gorgeous view of the waterfront at the canalside while jamming to local artists and bands; it just doesn’t get much better than that. Obviously, food and drinks will be well within reach.

Buffalo River Fest Park

Buffalo River Fest Park jams out every Wednesday from 6:30-10pm through September 6th. Bring your family and friends and once again, enjoy the lovely view of Buffalo just across the river from Buffalo Riverworks.
Wednesday, August 9th: The park will have The Buffalo 5, a rock, pop, and oldies dance band, which involve five friends, Greg Skulicz (lead guitar and vocals), Brian Overdorf (rhythm guitar and vocals), Dave Lansom (bass and vocals), Carolyn Lansom (hand percussion and vocals), and Jeff Garner (drums). They play a wide range of everyone’s favorite songs. Under their belt, they have The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Grateful Dead, Billy Joel, The Righteous Brothers and more.
Wednesday, August 16th: Get groovy with Disco Duck and be taken back to the ’70s with this awesome Buffalo retro band. Their setlist includes jams by KC & The Sunshine Band, Earth Wind & Fire, Rick James, Kool and the Gang, Abba, and more retro tunes. With other songs they sing by Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Elvis, The Beatles, Neil Diamond, and Frank Sinatra, you won’t be let down.
Wednesday, August 23rd: They formed in 1999 as a traditional swing band, and now they play a wide variety of music. JJ Swing will grab your attention, young or old, with their eight member band. They feature songs by artists such as Chicago, The Blues Brothers, Earth Wind & Fire, Bruno Mars, Rod Stewart and many more.
Wednesday, August 30th: The local band, Hit N Run is a six member band and feature a number of jams we love to sing and dance along to. They range from Kansas, ACDC, Neil Diamond, Van Halen, Lynard Skynyrd, Pat Benetar, Rush, Bruno Mars and more.
Wednesday, September 6th: Flipside has been with Western New York for the past 20 years to entertain all ages. Within those years, they have won the Best Classic Rock Group category in the annual Buffalo Music awards. Man, they rock. Dance to songs by Foreigner, The Rolling Stones, The Tragically Hip, Billy Idol, Bob Segar, and more.

Elmwood Village Picnic In The Parkway

Elmwood Village Picnic In The Parkway is another beauty of a place to unwind to free tunes. From 7-9pm every Tuesday in Bidwell Parkway between Elmwood and Potomac Avenues, your mood will be greatly enhanced. Only a few more Tuesdays left of summer, so you’ll want to enjoy it while it lasts.

Queen City Social

From now until August 23rd, enjoy hours of happiness every Wednesday from 5-8pm to celebrate the Queen City Social. What is it? A free happy hour featuring local bands, restaurants, and Big Ditch Brewing Company beer. Located at the Fountain Plaza at Main and Chippewa Street, get movin’ and boozin’. Fountain Plaza was recently renovated by the City of Buffalo, so it’s quite the beautiful space for the public to chill at.

$ Shows

Don’t you forget the lovely Thursday night concerts held at Canalside. This year, the lineup is very diverse. These guys seem to truly cares about satisfying all of us. With a price of $5 a legit concert atmosphere, and killer views, you really can’t beat it.

Nietzsche’s Bar

Nietzsche’s Bar on Allen Street holds live music every single night. Yep…7 days a week, 365 days a year. For only $5 at the door, drink and dance and have a ball. It’s never not a good time at Nietzsche’s.

Buffalo Iron Works, Buffalo’s Mohawk Place, and Town Ballroom

With venues like Buffalo Iron Works, Buffalo’s Mohawk Place, and Town Ballroom, they host concerts for as low as $5…c’mon now. Visit their sites to check out their shows. They have them almost every other day. Too good to be true, right?

Darien Lake’s

In case you have yet to check out Darien Lake’s Summer Concert list…performances such as Goo Goo Dolls, Luke Bryan, and John Mayer are just a few upcoming shows not to be missed. Is your heart racing yet? Spend a day at the amusement park (free admission with your concert ticket) and then dance the night away in the crowd.

Artpark in Lewiston is one of the most gorgeous places to see summer concerts at. You have to see it to believe it, no lie about that. A few performances to name this summer at Artpark are Blink 182, Ziggy Marley, Blondie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Arkells, and Jethro Tull. Visit for information on all the shows.

The Keybank Center

The Keybank Center is having some pretty sweet artists, I must say. Earth, Wind and Fire will be here in August. Moving into September, we’ve got Roger Waters, Katy Perry, and Bruno Mars comin’ to town. Whoa baby.
