Spooky season is upon us and with that comes the perfect opportunity to get into the murder mystery hype that is happening all around Buffalo. If you’ve ever loved the game of Clue or wanted to challenge your inner detective skills, these murder mystery themed events will get you asking “whodunit?”

With dinners, tours, escape rooms, and even cruises, there are so many options for you and a group of friends to feel like true crime solvers while enjoying a fun night of food, games, puzzles, and prizes. If this sounds like the twist on a typical night out that you’ve been looking for, then we’ve got you covered. Here are all the places around the Buffalo area bringing the murder mystery experience to you.

1. The Dinner Detective

Hilton Garden Inn, 10 Lafayette Square, Buffalo, NY 14203 / Website

A comedy murder mystery that is currently being held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Downtown Buffalo immerses guests into the mystery as the murderer is lurking around the room. As guests enjoy the night of entertainment and food, they may find themselves becoming suspects in the crime. There are many upcoming shows but these tickets tend to go quick! Check out their site to reserve a spot at a showing.

2. Terror at the Tailgate Party

Welcome to Buffalo’s favorite activity; tailgating before a football game… with a spooky twist. This year, The Barrel Factory is the venue for this ‘tailgate murder mystery’ hosted by Buffalo History Tours where you can expect great food, drinks, and plenty of laughs. You’ll interact with performers, look for clues, and ask questions in an attempt to figure out who’s guilty. Dressing up in your favorite tailgating year is highly encouraged. 3. Murder Mystery Dinner at Oaks Manor

On October 29th, a memorable evening full of food, fun, and mystery is taking place at the eerie Oaks Manor. Sponsored by the Mystery Company, a group of performers who offer an engaging interactive mystery theater. They blend together a superb theatrical performance with a crime solving component which will bring out your inner sleuth. Will you be the one to crack the case?

4. The Winery at Marjim Manor

7171 Lake Rd, Appleton, NY 14008 / Website

With a prohibition themed murder mystery, the Winery at Marjim Manor gives guests the challenge of solving a murder while enjoying a 4 course wine and food pairing dinner. This years murder mystery takes place Saturday, October 23rd. With this event, guests are given clues to try and guess which suspect is to blame. The event also includes a keepsake wine glass and a chance to win prizes.

5. Halloween Murder Mystery Dinner & Show

East Hill Creamery: 346 South Main Street, Perry, NY 14530 / Website

This Halloween-themed murder mystery dinner on Saturday, October 30, 2021 offers a performance by WNY Improv and is catered by Old Souls Catering. Tickets are $50 and it takes place at The Chalet East Hill Creamery in Perry.

6. Rusty Nickel’s Annual Murder Mystery Event

Rusty Nickel Brewing: 4350 Seneca St., West Seneca, NY 14224 / Website

Rusty Nickel Brewing’s Murder Mystery Event immerses guests in a chilling evening of detective work and the guests are the characters, each with their own motives, secrets, and lies. Attendees will mingle to gather information, discover evidence, and even bribe each other for clues. After you purchase a ticket you’ll receive an email with their character details. Tickets include food and beverage and costumes and props are highly encouraged! The event takes place October 26 and tickets go on sale 10/5

7. Death at the Disco Murder Mystery with Buffalo Double Decker Bus Tours

Flying Bison Brewery, 840 Seneca St. Buffalo, NY 14210 / Website

Offered every Saturday at 7pm, this tour stops at 3 local taverns while you try and figure out who committed the crime. Saturday’s tour is death at the disco channeling a 70s themed tour. This tour is super interactive where you are encouraged to question the suspects to try and pinpoint the murderer. This tour is a 21+ event.

8. Murder Mystery Train Ride with New York & Lake Erie Railroad

An all ages experience, the New York & Lake Erie Railroad offers a 5 hour event featuring a 2 1/2 hour round trip excursion train ride from Gowanda to South Dayton, NY! Riders will enjoy dinner catered by the Slovenian Club and murder mystery event hosted by “In all Seriousness”. Dessert and “Who dun it” back at the Club. Event, dinner, ride, & dessert are all included in your ticket price.
