How to Best Enjoy Hamburg Music Fest 2016

The Hamburg Music Fest is quickly becoming a rite of spring for the thousands of people who enthusiastically attend each year. The fact that this fun loving, all-American music festival raises thousands of dollars for charity each year is the perfect excuse (if you need one) to come out and enjoy a great party. Remember – in order to do your part as a good citizen and avoid that worrisome bad karma you NEED to buy a wristband.

This year the Hamburg Music Fest will be bigger and better than ever with over 30 bands playing at 20 some venues. Parking near Main and Buffalo in the village can sometimes be a challenge, but remember there is a shuttle (free when you purchase a wristband) running people from venue to venue from 5:0o pm – 11:00 pm, so it’s a fantastic idea to park on the edge of the village and catch the bus. The “Music Bus” goal is to be by every 15-20 minutes. It is actually 4 buses on two different routes, both of which pass through Memorial Park and the Village muni parking lot.

  • Bus A Route: Municipal Lot / the Alibi / J&M’s West End / The Burg/ Memorial Park / Municipal Lot
  • Bus B Route: Municipal Lot / The Craft Beer & Wine Co. / Armor Inn / JP Fitzgerald’s/ Memorial Park / Municipal Lot

The best way to enjoy the Hamburg Music Fest is to start early and stay late and of course enjoy the music with plenty to eat and drink. The first note will be hit by the Ukaladies Plus One at 1:00 PM  in Staub Square, which is the perfect opportunity to grab lunch and a beer at Juicy Burger Bar or one of the many spots on South Buffalo or Main Street. Music starts at the Pour House and Boots or Hearts Salon at 2pm so depending on your thirsts you should hit one of those. You’ll certainly want to catch some or all of the shows at Memorial Park. The highlight will no doubt be Hamburg Nursery School Alum at 2:45. We’re not sure what this is about, but it sounds like fun, and it so happens we do have some alums here at SOB. Of course you’ll find plenty more to do in the park including food by Amy’s Food Truck • Cheesy Chick • Frank Gourmet Hot Dogs • House of Munch • Main Street Ice Cream • Wayno’s BBQ. #yaaaasssss There will also be a Kids Zone and a Nonprofit Expo.

From here you’ll need to A) eat and drink some more; B) Get on the bus gus; C) wander “downtown” from bar to tavern to bar; D) all of the above. If you answered anything but D you’ll need to spend more time on StepOutBuffalo.com.

The reality is that you can’t possibly catch all the shows anymore than you can avoid having a great time at the Hamburg Music Fest.

BUY A WRISTBAND

Remember to buy a wristband! Yes, the idea is to have fun WHILE supporting local charities. You’ll feel a lot better in the morning if you do (that, and drink a lot of water throughout the day). Trust me!

In the past 8 years the Hamburg Music Fest has raised over $107,000 for local charities like 4Paws for Ability, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Buffalo City Mission, Loving Miracles, Sadie’s Safe Harbor, local music education programs, fire departments and more. (See a full list here). New this year – you can go online and buy a wristband with Paypal or a credit card …or wristbands are available at locations found here. Check out the map below to find venues, parking, and more!
