If you’re working from home, it’s easy to get distracted by your kids running around, household chores, chatty roommates, or noisy neighbors. A change in your physical environment can do wonders for your productivity because it’s a change of scenery and it’s a real work zone.
That’s where a flexible on-demand workspace comes in. And, lucky for us, there’s a brand-new place doing just that and so much more right in the Central Business District of Buffalo. HANSA (pronounced hän-sä) officially opened just last month and is currently offering a Free Day Pass to anyone who books a tour, which is a stunning renovation of an old drab warehouse that used to be owned by Frey the Wheelman, a mechanic.

Here’s a little bit of backstory…
This homegrown shared office space was created by the pros at Uniland Development Company. Before opening the space, they toured coworking spaces around the country to make a list of must-haves. After finding inspiration, an old single-story warehouse they owned on Ellicott Street was converted into a 35,000 square foot adaptive reuse facility to meet the needs of modern companies, freelancers, start-ups, remote professionals, private groups, etc. Keeping with the industrial vibe of Buffalo, HANSA was born. What came out of this new working environment is what HANSA operators call “an elevated office experience.”
“We’ve designed areas for multiple uses to provide the most flexibility to meet the demands of today’s workforce. You choose where to work based on what you’re doing,” says Uniland Architectural Interior Designer Mary Hazlett.

Everyone’s work needs are a little different. Luckily, HANSA has plenty of options for freelancers, small business owners, and large firms needing extra space. Their most popular products and services are the open and dedicated desks that are available with a daily pass or monthly punch cards as well as their 2-4 person private offices that are rentable by the month. From flex coworking to dedicated desks to private offices to large private suites, you’ll find it all here. Plus, they have unique meeting rooms and special event spaces that can be rented by anyone
HANSA provides everything you need to start working Day 1 – high-speed and reliable internet service, free coffee and snacks, a professional on-site support team, 24/7 access, free black and white printing and copying, private phone booths, indoor bike storage, changing rooms and showers, and a meditation room. Members are also treated to extra amenities that today’s professionals want – wellness activities, networking opportunities, the chance to work near someone you don’t know and learn something new or make a new connection that can help your business or theirs. If you’re looking for a collaborative, supportive community of professionals who make productivity, creativity, learning, and networking part of their work-life balance, this place might be for you.
