There’s just something about hayrides – haunted or fall-themed – that we can’t get enough of. Go with a date, bring the whole crew, or show the kids the beauty of the season in Western New York from the back of a wagon.
With the ongoing pandemic, it’s important to keep COVID guidelines in mind, but there’s still places that made the most of this frightening situation. Read on for hayrides perfect for the fam this Fall.

1. The Haunted Forest at Becker Farms

This year’s iteration of a haunted hayride at Becker Farms is a drive-through experience in The Haunted Forest.
In their own words: “Careful of the detour on Quaker Rd. Strange things have been known to happen on the lane that takes you through the forest that bypasses Becker Farms! The Haunted Forest Drive through is geared for ages starting as young as 7 years old depending on the child. The Garden Market and Becker Brewing Company will be open until 10p.m. for hot cider, donuts, baked goods and seasonal libations. After 5pm there is no admission cost to be on the grounds, only to participate in the Drive Thru, through the forest.”
2. The Haunted Forest at Newfane

When it comes to haunted hayrides, this one is a game changer. You will be on the edge of your seat clinging to your sanity as you venture into a deep fog emanating evil. You won’t want to miss a minute of the spooky tale told through the wagon speaker while simultaneously witnessing the horrifying sights in the woods as the begotten tale comes to life right in front of you. For a family friendly hayride experience visit Saturdays in September and both Saturdays and Sundays in October between 2-4pm. You’ll also find a Haunted Barn and Corn Maze here!
3. Nightmare Hayrides on Sommerville

After a year off due to Covid, this nightmarish experience is back and scarier than ever. Nightmare Hayride is a 25 minute tractor drawn hayride that will lead you down a creepy haunted path with live creatures. Once you have successfully finished the ride you will exit off into a haunted maze that will twist and turn over one acre of land. Be prepared to be scared as you venture through long dark hallways with live creatures. After you have made your way through the maze you’ll end up in the haunted barn featuring the vortex tunnel, totaling a 40 minute experience. Nightmare Hayride also offers a cook shack serving food.
Nightmare Hayrides runs weekends only – Friday through Sunday 7:30 – 9:30pm, from Oct 1 – 31, 2021. No reservations are needed and admission costs $25 per person, 5 and under are free.

6. Kelkenberg Farm of Clarence

This fall, kid-friendly, not at all haunted hayride around the farm and fields is part of the all inclusive admission which also includes any size pumpkin picked from the patch, pony rides for children, animal viewing, jump pad, and barnyard games and activities! Refreshments, food, bakery items, seasonal produce and fall decor are available inside the farmer’s market.
7. Akron Acres

Akron Acres offers a tractor drawn hayride in addition to other fun on the farm including the corn maze, visits to the animal barn, pony rides, any size pumpkin from the patch, snack shack and more!
