The world’s largest beer celebration typically draws over six million visitors to Munich, Germany.
But Germany isn’t the only country who celebrates. Oktoberfest celebrations happen all over the world, including here in Buffalo.
Buffalo’s first and only German beer hall is kicking off Oktoberfest with their official grand opening celebration. Mark your calendar for September 15 to 17 because this is the first time you’ll be able to experience Hofbrauhaus Buffalo’s full menu.
Here’s what to expect:
Hofbrauhaus Buffalo’s current food menu is growing to include many more options!
The full menu features German favorites, including famous Munich pork roast, Oktoberfest-style roasted half chicken, Bavarian style pot roast, Schnitzel, radishes and rye, and other Bavarian specialities.
If you’re more in a beer drinking and snacking mood, they have freshly baked pretzels, sausage and schnitzel salads, Bavarian cheese spread, and cold cut platters.
You’ll also find burgers, sandwiches, fish fillet, and salads on their new-and-improved menu. Plus, they are introducing vegetarian options, including German cheese noodles, vegan schnitzel, and grilled vegan frankfurters.
As for the beer, you’ll find classic Bavarian brews here, including Hofbräu Original, Hefe Weizen, and Dunkel as well as seasonals like Urbräu, Dunkel Weizen, or Maibock. Fun fact. All of these beers are brewed according to the 500-year old Purity Law of 1516. Pretty legit, right?
The Grand Opening
You can be one of the first to sample the new menu at Hofbrauhaus Buffalo by attending their grand opening party on September 15 to 17. You can find all the party details by following them on Facebook.
Outside of their grand opening, Hofbrauhaus will also have some upcoming beer tappings. Here’s what you need to know:
Wednesday September 1st:
Who: Honorary barrel tapper, Del Reid of the Bills Mafia
On Tap: Octoberfest Bier
Made with the Purity law of 1516 , Octoberfest Bier contains only 4 ingredients including, water, barley, hops and yeast, known as Reinheitsgetbot. Come and enjoy a parade and live music from Der Haus Band.
Reservations are encouraged.
Wednesday October 6th:
Who: Honorary barrel tapper, Kristen Kimmic of the Bills Mafia Babes
On Tap: Festbier
This bier is actually served at Munch’s Oktoberfest, it’s a pale lager with a clear Pilsner malt biscuit bent, with some additional toasted malt flavors in support. Our version of the Festbier closely resembles the American-style Oktoberfest beers with a deep amber hue, notes of bread crust and sweet toffee, and a clean hop bitterness. This tapping will also feature music by Der Haus Band.
TLDR; if you’re looking for an authentic Oktoberfest celebration in Buffalo, this is it.
