According to Inside Edition, “it started when musical theater fan Daniel Mertzlufft sang the lyrics to a song about a couple fighting in a grocery store during the pandemic. But after he posted the video on TikTok, a woman joined in to make it a duet. From there, it took off, with the cast growing and growing. The home-grown musical, which is a parody of Louisa Melcher’s song, “New York Summer,” has grown in popularity on the video sharing app, and continues to blow Daniel away; he can’t believe how big a silly video has gotten.”
