Pizza Journal: Joe’s is pretty much the only pizzeria on our list that calls them self “NY Style”. They claim to be an authentic New York Style Italian Restaurant. The pizza is “hand stretched & cooked directly on the brick”. I’ve made a mental note to make a return trip to try the Greek Pizza with spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, black olives, mozzarella & feta. Yum. As far as the cheese and pepperoni goes, it was good. Based on my experiences with pizza in NYC (mostly $1 slices at 2 Bros) I’d say this pie could stand to have a bit thinner crust – if we are judging on style. In comparison to the other pizzas around here, it’s pretty good. The dough and crust are reminiscent of NY pizza – which is always good, different from WNY but good all the same. The cheese is subtle, same with the sauce. This is the kind of pizza that you can eat a whole lot of slices at once – even a whole pie if your trained well. Side note – I asked for a small, and arrive to find a large because their “small is a large.” I liked that.

Tester Observations:

CRUST: crunchy bottom, doughy dough, crunchy on the outside of the crust, soft on the inside

SAUCE: sweet, runny, no chunks

CHEESE: covered pizza but not overpowering

PEPPERONI: not too spicy, not crunchy at all

See where this pizza’s crust, sauce, cheese and pep fall on our observation meters. More importantly – what rating does it get on our LIKE-O-METER:
