Are you an animal lover? If the answer is yes, then you need to check out this new and unique petting zoo that is soon to open in Niagara County. According to this article from WKBW, Laura Kagels is opening a petting zoo called “Niagara County Down Under” on her property in Sanborn, NY.

We promise that Kagels’ petting zoo will be like no other in WNY, and that’s because it will have kangaroos! Now you’ll be able to experience the land down under while staying in WNY!

Kagels brought home her first kangaroo nearly three years ago, and now she’s a proud owner of 12 kangaroos. She takes great care of her animals, making sure that they all get the treatment that they need. “The babies are bottle-fed and cared for inside until they are old enough to live in a heated barn outback.”

Although Kagels is eager to open up her petting zoo, there is a lot of work that must be completed before it can open. First, she plans on adding an eight-foot-high fence around her two-acre site. Then, she needs to get insured before she can allow visitors to come and play.

The petting zoo won’t be open your typical nine to five, instead, guests will be asked to plan a private tour. During this time, you can play, feed, and hold the kangaroos right in their habitat! Is that not the coolest thing you’ve ever heard?!  Keep your fingers crossed for a springtime opening!
