Food Truck Taco of The Year

In a recent quest to find the best taco truck in well, the world, conducted a poll that received a whole lot of attention from this neck of the woods. That’s because Buffalo’s own Lloyd Taco Truck was in the running! Mobile Cuisine asked for email submissions and selected the 15 trucks with the most votes. Here were the guidelines for the poll:

To be eligible for the final poll, the food truck needs to have opened before January 2014 and must regularly serve the taco dish from their truck, cart or trailer. The ingredients of the taco can be any combination of flavors (traditional or fusion), or cuisine and the taco can be served in a hard or soft shell. The trucks can be located in any country so feel free to submit choices from outside of North America.

Mobile Cuisine declared the Top 15, Lloyd was in – GAME ON!  Throughout the second part of the competition, you could see the number of votes for each truck, and before we knew it, Lloyd was in a close race for first with a couple other trucks (unimportant). The final poll closed Friday March 15 and I heard from Lloydians the next day as I picked up my weekly fix… the race was close. Too corn to shell…er…close to call

Winner Winner Taco Dinner

Yesterday Mobile Cuisine finally announced the winner of 2014 Food Truck Taco Of The Year after sorting through nearly 25,000 votes. We’re THRILLED to announce that Buffalo, New York’s Lloyd Taco Truck is the winner! Congratulations to owners Chris Dorsaneo and Peter Cimino and of course the entire Lloyd team that serves Buffalo and Western New York on the reg with huge smiles and friendly greetings. Thank you for feeding us and making Buffalo a place where you can get bangin’ tacos! It means A LOT to us.

If You Haven’t Tried Lloyd Yet, You Are Loco

This is not a review. This is merely a list of reasons why you should absolutely try Lloyd – no matter if you just step out your door, or you need to drive miles to hunt them down. (It’s really not that hard.) Just do it. I’m sure you won’t regret it. My advice for when you get there: Try the specials, be adventurous, trust Lloyd and his culinary choices. The things they come up with for these specials are interesting, unique and delicious.

Thanks to the cabbage and Lloyd’s special sauces, everything on the menu is made exciting. Corn tortillas make a huge difference with the tacos ($2.59 each). For a while I was worried about switching from tacos to the burrito ($6.89) because I didn’t want to lose that flavor but somehow the burrito is JUST as good! And again, one day I was feeling like spring is almost here so maybe I should cut back a little and switch to the El Camino (bowl without tortilla, $6.89) but I was nervous. Would it be as tasty? YES! The answer is YES! Pickled onions and shredded cabbage make this stuff outstanding no matter the means you use to get it to your mouth! The meat is delicious too and if you like cilantro, you’ll love Lloyd. One more thing – do NOT pass on the Chorizo Mac.

Just do it. Just go for it. I’m not sure why you’ve waited this long.
