They say (we say*) that brunch is the most important (fun*) meal of the day – and we’re right. Day drinking, friends, sunshine, more day drinking – what could be better? We’ve already shared our favorite boozy brunches and brunch cocktails, plus basically everything worth brunching about in Buffalo, Niagara, and WNY…so if we’re telling you about a new way to brunch rest assured it is worth it y’all.
If brunch is your game then allow us to introduce you to this game-changer from The Lodge – Funk & Waffles. Our friends at The Lodge have done us all a solid by taking the best meal of the day and making it even better. Between the pitchers of our favorite brunchy drinks, a live serenade, and a bomb food menu all packed inside The Lodge’s signature gorgeous interior, Funk & Waffles has taken #BrunchGoals to a whole new level. Allow us to break it down for ya:
$12 Pitchers of Mimosas and $15 Pitchers of Bloody Marys
THIS IS NOT A DRILL. For $12 or $15 you can get a pitcher of these classic boozy brunch favs that will fill up the glasses of you and 3 of your fellow brunchers between 2-3 times each (depending on how you divvy up the pours aka how fast you can drink ‘em). For an even better deal split a pitcher between less than 4 people so you get even more refills outta that pitcher. Drunk brunch table of one! You’re welcome.
In the words of whoever sings the Cha-Cha Slide, now it’s time to get funky. We didn’t know how badly we were missing jazz from our brunches/lives until we were ~blessed~ with it at The Lodge’s Funk & Waffles. There’s just something about live music that makes any and all outings/eating experiences a bit more special, and when it’s live jazz music it becomes a bit more special and then some. The last time my girlfriends and I enjoyed a Funk & Waffles brunch at The Lodge we were given a table-side serenade of the Beauty and the Beast theme song and it was amazing. 4 for you, violinist who came to our table, you go violinist who came to our table!
Ooooooobviously the best part about brunch is the food (or second best, depending on your end game #drunch). During Funk & Waffles The Lodge serves a nice mix of old and new menu items that are perfect for sharing with your fellow brunch-loving companions or not. Pro-tip: get the Ricotta Pancakes.
- Greek Yogurt Parfait – Vanilla, Honey, House Granola, Fresh Fruit & Berries
- Spiced Muffin French Toast – Cardamom Ice Cream, Pecan Butter, Apples,
- Ricotta Pancakes – Blueberry maple Syrup, Lemon Curd
- Rancher Steak and eggs – Home fries, shoshito peppers, bordelaise sauce

If that menu selection didn’t just make you WOOF out loud then we have nothing in common and I don’t trust you.
Location, Location, Location
The only thing that can make a great brunch super great is when you have so much fun that it becomes a pregame to a Saturday or Sunday funday. Thankfully when this happens you’ll be right smack in the middle of downtown Buffalo with oodles of possibilities around you. Chippewa? Theater District? South Ellicott? Canalside? Cobblestone District? Elmwood? Allentown? They’re all just a stone’s-throw aka short walk or cab ride away. Or you could always stay at The Lodge and keep those pitchers of mimosas and Bloody Marys comin’. Do you boo, do you.
