The Mess Hall Eatery Opens in Lackawanna

After a few construction delays and several months, The Mess Hall on Ridge Road in Lackawanna officially opens it’s doors to the public today. The Mess Hall, “in the shadow of Our Lady of Victory Basilica,” is a collaborative effort by Joe Jerge of Mulbery Italian Ristorante, John Glavey of Brick Oven Bistro and Charles Goodspeed.

The small space features a front garage-style window, a cozy butcher block bar towards the back and a window looking into the kitchen. As far as a menu goes, expect something more along the lines of the Brick Oven Bistro running through it’s veins plus something in the vicinity of 12 beers on tap, local favorites included.

According to their Facebook page, The Mess Hall will serve lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, and breakfast on weekends. The pizza menu features pies like Teenie Bopper with little meatballs ($11) and Firehouse with smoked fresh mozzarella, Sloan Market cheese and parsley sausage ($11). The lunch menu offers soups, sandwiches, salads, burgers and “plates such as Pickle Brined Fried Half Chicken, Homemade Oxtail Pierogi, Short Rib Hash, Veggie Spaghetti, Homemade Spaghetti & Meatballs, Baked Stuff Shells and Homemade Ricotta Gnocchi!”  They also mention on Facebook that their dinner menu is still a work in progress.
