Now that the risk of snowfall has sunk to the lowly depth of 5 to 10 percent, we can turn our attention to outdoor live music! Barring any unforeseen global pandemics, this should be the first warm-weather concert season in a few years that doesn’t include any mask or vaccination requirements. That means we can put the arguing aside and actually enjoy the music for a change.
This May, there’s a lot to enjoy too. Speaking of outdoor music, the Avett Brothers (May 21) and Mt. Joy (May 25) are two Artpark shows that should be added to your Notes app. Hudson Valley hipster Mikaela Davis is one of the buzziest artists out there right now, and the psychedelic folk singer is bringing both her harp and her band Southern Star to Babeville for a month-long residency filled with original songs and Grateful Dead covers (May 2, 9, 16). If you prefer harder-edged hipster sounds, Brooklyn band TV Moms bring their updated take on grunge to Mohawk Place (May 5).
