10 Nearby Farms Where You Can Cut Down Your Own Christmas Tree

Yes, it’s *finally* time! A trip to the Christmas tree farm is a long-time tradition for many families, mine included. If you’re a Buffalonian and finding the perfect tree is on your holiday to-do list, this is the guide you need in your life.

Luckily, you don’t have to travel far to find your perfect pine. All the places on our list are less than a 25-mile drive from the city, and offer the option for you to cut down your own. After all, that’s the best way to get the whole fam into the holiday spirit.



1. Kathie & Jerry’s Christmas Trees

1731 Gowans Road, Angola, NY


Hours: Weekends from 9:00 am until dusk; Weekdays from 2:00 pm until dusk until sellout.

Instead of selling tons of trees, this Angola farm stops when the current year’s good trees are gone and save them for next year aka they might sell out by mid-December aka hurry.


2. Blasz Tree Farm

9178 Sisson Highway, Eden, NY


Hours: Saturday & Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

This family owned tree farm is a favorite by many because of its varied selection in both size and species. In addition to trees, they have Christmas memorials for departed loved ones’ graves.


3. Lindstrom’s

7314 Boston State Road, Hamburg


Hours: Daily 9:00 am to 8:00 pm

If you live in Hamburg, this spot is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from your favorite bars and restaurants. Make a day of it and head to Lindstrom’s to pick your tree.



4. Roth’s Hillside Tree Farm & Christmas Shop

182 N Main Street, Holland


Hours: Thursday & Friday 2:00pm – 5:00pm; Saturday & Sunday 9:00am – 4:30pm until 12/23

This 55-acre farm has Blue Spruce, White Spruce, Canaan Fir, Concolor Fir, and Fraser Fir trees for you to choose from. New this year, you can take home real trees painted in bright colors.


5. Country Pine Farm, LLC

11996 Humphries Road, Holland


Hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9 am to 4 pm until 12/16; Limited hours 12/21-12/23

The picturesque foothills of Holland are a beautiful backdrop for a day spent tree shopping. You’ll find Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Fraser Fir, and Canaan Fir trees here.


6. Akron Acres

12607 Stage Road, Akron


Hours: Saturdays & Sundays from 10am to 5pm

Take a horse drawn hayride to the tree fields and enjoy a roasting marshmallows after you find your tree. You’ll find Fraser Fir, Balsam Fir, Canaan Fir, and Concolor Fir trees here. You can cut down any you would like for $69 plus tax.



7. Jurek Plantations in Clarence

6600 Strickler Road, Clarence


Hours: Daily from 9am-5pm until 12/23

New this year, you can cut down your own tree here. Prices start at $49.99 plus tax. They have thousands of firs and spruces to choose from at this location.


8. Jurek Plantations in Akron

11370 Hunts Corners Road, Akron


Hours: Saturdays & Sundays from 9am-5pm

This location is the complete DIY tree experience. But really, no pre-cut trees allowed. Aka dress accordingly, and bring your boots. You can choose any tree any size for $58.99 + tax at this location.


9. Anthony’s Christmas Trees

4175 Johnson Road, Lockport


Hours: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays from 10 am-4:30 pm until 12/22

This Lockport farm has many varieties and sizes for you to choose from, all coming in at $8 per foot.



10. Treetop Acres

3936 Lower Mountain Road, Lockport


Hours: Fridays from 12 pm to 5 pm; Saturdays & Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm until 12/15

This compact tree farm is 23 acres of perfection. You’ll find Douglas Fir, Canaan Fir, Concolor Fir, Colorado Blue Spruce, Colorado Green Spruce, and Black Hills Spruce here.
