Yes, it’s *finally* time! A trip to the Christmas tree farm is a long-time tradition for many families, mine included. If you’re a Buffalonian and finding the perfect tree is on your holiday to-do list, this is the guide you need in your life.

Luckily, you don’t have to travel far to find your perfect pine. All the places on our list are in or around WNY, and offer the option for you to cut down your own. After all, that’s the best way to get the whole fam into the holiday spirit.

1. Jurek Trees (Clarence)

Cut down your own tree at Jurek Trees, a family-owned and operated business that has been proudly serving our Buffalo area community for three generations. They offer cut-your-own and pre-cut trees and can take care of tree drilling and wrapping for you to make getting your perfect tree as enjoyable as possible.

2. Jurek Trees (Akron)

This location is the complete DIY tree experience. But really, no pre-cut trees allowed. Aka dress accordingly, and bring your boots. This location also requires you to be prepared with plenty of rope (they recommend bringing a pick up truck!) and your own saw. Please note, they are only able to bale our smaller and more slender trees at this location.

3. Kathie & Jerry’s Christmas Trees

Instead of selling tons of trees, this Angola farm stops when the current year’s good trees are gone and save them for next year aka they might sell out by mid-December, so hurry.

They have a wide variety of tree species with a few available in limited quantities in addition to hand saws for your use, free baling and loading, tree stands and they’re pet friendly! No chainsaws please!

4. Blasz Tree Farm

This family owned tree farm is a favorite by many because of its varied selection in both size and species.

5. Roth’s Hillside Tree Farm & Christmas Shop

182 N Main Street, Holland / rothshillside.com

This 60-acre farm has Blue Spruce, White Spruce, Canaan Fir, Concolor Fir, and Fraser Fir trees for you to choose from and offer both u and pre-cut options. They are dog friendly as long as your dog is on a leash! The gift shop at Roth’s Hillside also offers a wide array of items to choose from.

6. Country Pine Farm, LLC

11996 Humphries Road, Holland / countrypinefarm.com

The picturesque foothills of Holland are a beautiful backdrop for a day spent tree shopping and cutting. You’ll find Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Fraser Fir, and Canaan Fir trees here, plus wreaths and greenery are available for purchase.

7. Anthony’s Christmas Trees

4175 Johnson Road, Lockport / anthonyschristmastrees.net

This Lockport farm has many varieties and sizes for you to choose from, all coming in at $10 per foot. They accept cash or checks and provide bow saws and drilling and offer tree stands, wreaths, and tree bags for purchase. No chainsaws please!

8. Treetop Acres

3936 Lower Mountain Road, Lockport / treetopchristmastrees.com

This compact tree farm is 23 acres of “perfectly manicured Christmas trees”. Located in Niagara County, they’ve been specifically dedicated to growing Christmas trees for over 30 years and offer 3,000 trees available for cutting during this year’s Christmas season. Treetop Acres offers Fir (Douglas, Canaan and Concolor) and Spruce (Colorado Blue, Colorado Green and Black Hills) trees.

9. Boston Hill Nursery

Boston hill nursery sells pre-cut and cut-your-own Christmas trees with several varieties available ranging from 5 ft trees to 9 ft trees.

10. Akron Acres

Akron Acres is a family-run farm business specializing in agritourism. Take a horse drawn hayride to the tree fields and enjoy roasting marshmallows after you find your tree.

11. Brant’s Morley Rd Tree Farm

10286 Morley Cross Rd, North Collins / brantsmorleyrdtreefarm.com

Opening the Friday after Thanksgiving, Brant’s Morley Rd Tree Farm has cut your own trees range from 5-11 feet live potted trees and wreaths too. All cut your own trees are $55.

Bring your own bow saw or use one of theirs provided but, no chain saws are allowed. Rope will also be provided if necessary to tie your tree to your vehicle.

12. ​Hill’s Christmas Tree Farm

Hill’s Christmas Tree Farm is a family owned and operated cut your own tree farm, offering Canaan Fir, Concolor Fir, Fraser Fir, Grand Fir, Colorado Blue Spruce and Black Hills Spruce. Trees are $9 a foot and range from 5ft up to 16 ft.!

They also have wreaths, centerpieces, mantlepieces/table runners, and door/wall swags in a variety of sizes, and a tractor can bring your tree back to the main barn for you.

13. Almeters Tree Farm

Almeters Tree Farm offers u-cut trees at $50 with trees ranging from 4-7ft. Pre-cut trees and wreaths are also available. If you have any specific questions, their best form of contact is by phone at 585-652-0798.
