The newest addition to Niagara Street is a sweet one – literally.
Located in one of Buffalo’s historic Upper West Side firehouses, Frost Artisan Bakery is bringing unique sweets to the neighborhood.
Presentation and flavor are equally as important to this brand-new bakery led by Executive Pastry Chef Jasmine Hidalgo.
“My vision for Frost is to become known for made-from-scratch cakes and pastries that are not only really beautiful, but also have extraordinary flavors,” Jasmine says.

Frost is all about taking classic family recipes and giving them a contemporary twist.
“We all come from different backgrounds and we try to show our traditions and cultures in our baking,” Jasmine says.
Jasmine is Puerto Rican and enjoys putting her own unique twist on her grandmother’s authentic recipes. Lead Baker Melinda Farrauto is Sicilian and enjoys making Italian desserts. Cookie Artist Jenn Reese has a background in Fine Arts and it shows in her one-of-a-kind cookies which she paints by hand.
All three women grew up baking and met when they worked together at Zillycakes. They each went in their own directions, but stayed in touch and they couldn’t be excited enough to get the gang back together for this new venture.

Baking was always a way to show love among family and friends for Jasmine, so she especially enjoys having the opportunity to share this with her local community now.
“It’s all about creating a moment or a memory for our customers here,” Jasmine says.
When you walk inside, you’ll be greeted by a colorful mural that showcases many of their desserts. They offer the best of both worlds here. You can order a completely custom cake or stop by for a single slice – you take your pick. They also have all sorts of cupcakes, cutout cookies, and pastries.

Plus, they have featured flavors of the month. May’s specials include Peach Cobbler Cinnamon Rolls, Mango Margarita Cupcakes, Churro Cookies, and Strawberry and Champagne Cheesecake.
Frost also creates wedding cakes, cookies, and sweet treats for special events, under the umbrella of Rich’s Entertainment Group. Jasmine appreciates the opportunity to work both for and with Rich’s while having the freedom to create her own unique vision at Frost.
“Come visit us if you’re looking for something different and if you’re looking to try a twist on traditional recipes,” Jasmine says.
So the next time you’re in the mood for something sweet, treat yourself to a trip to Frost!
