Romeo & Juliet’s Italian Cafe reportedly will officially open their new Italian restaurant in Hamburg on Thursday, Jan. 15. They are located at the corner of Clark and McKinley in Hamburg near the Erie County Fairgrounds in what was once Giacobbi’s and will be serving lunch and dinner 5 days a week. This is the fourth Romeo & Juliet’s to open in WNY joining restaurants by the same owners on Sheridan Drive in both  Williamsville and Tonawanda. They also have a restaurant/bakery on Hertel in Buffalo.

What to Expect

The food is authentic, down home Italian/Tuscan. The owners are Italian nationals from cities like Brindisi, Milan, Rome and Florence. Common menu items generally include: thin crust pizza (with toppings like fresh tomatoes, eggplant, mushrooms, fresh tomato, olives, mozzarella, gorgonzola, portobello, romano…not necessarily all together) house made pasta dishes, anti-pasta, salads, soups, panini and Italian baked goods.

Items are available for take-out or the dining room. The restaurant will have a full bar and seat and estimated 80 -100 guests.

A couple excerpts from our review of the Romeo & Juliet’s Sheridan restaurant in 2013

Food: REAL Italian food- I’m talking Lobster Ravioli (ravioli filled with crab & lobster and topped with a cream vodka walnut gorgonzola sauce- :-), Braciola Pugliese, Potato Gnocchi, Manicotti, pizza and panini’s extraordinaire etc. etc.

Pizza San Vito -Marinated artichokes, kalamata olives, soppressata, shredded mozzarella & romano cheese and tomato sauce.($10.45)

Final thoughts: My mission is not just to get back to Romeo & Juliet’s Cafe, but to try to get them to open another place in the southtowns.
