Buffalo’s recent limelight as an artist’s haven, with its architectural beauty, vibrant street murals, artsy festivals and art museum renovations, might just be spreading artist’s fever around town. Here’s your chance to be a part of all the buzz.

Terra Clay Studio, a brand new ceramic studio in the adorable Village of Kenmore, is offering classes for potters and wannabe’s (aka beginners) where you can unleash your creativity in a fun, all-inclusive environment!

Jody Selin, ceramics professor, and Amanda Schober, graphic designer, reacquainted years since Amanda had once sat in Jody’s ceramics class at Buffalo State College and came up with the *absolutely brilliant* idea to open a teaching studio as a team. They welcome all students with open arms, no matter their skill level, giving everyone the chance to express themselves through a unique art form- pottery.

Terra Clay Studio offers all sorts of courses for pros, rookies and even those still on the fence. With small class sizes of 8-9 people, you’ll get one-on-one attention from the experts in the room- don’t worry, you’re never left at the wheel alone. The six-week Core Clay Series is great for students of all backgrounds to learn, improve their skills and gain a deepened appreciation for ceramic arts. You’ll get to do the whole sha’bang- wheel throwing, handbuilding, and utilitarian or sculptural works.

If you’re not ready to jump all in, you can join a Try It class, where you’ll learn all the basics and make your own piece of pottery under Jody and Amanda’s instruction in just one night (or morning). BUT WAIT. They also have Date Night clay sessions where you can craft and learn something new with your significant other (fancy dinner dates are so overrated anyway- amirite), along with seasonal workshops where you can make cute holiday keepsakes (or gifts!).

Btw, the classes aren’t limited to adults- they’ve got a Teens and Kids n’ Clay course for the kiddos (plus the moms and dads who need a night off). In addition to the courses, they also host private parties and continuing education for local art educators!

At Terra Clay, you’ll experience a creative atmosphere and culture where you can relax and escape your daily routine for a therapeutic night of ceramics. If you’re looking for a hands-on activity with friends, family, or your date, grab your smock for a messy, fun night out! Jody and Amanda hope to “bring art to the community in a way that’s accessible for anyone,” so don’t be surprised when you spot them out at the Kenmore Farmer’s Market or the Stop, Sip & Shop event in December!
