As if it were possible to make East Aurora any more lovable, here comes 42 North Brewing Company.
Located at 23 Pine Street off the east end of Main Street, next to Brother’s sits the beautifully reclaimed and restored new brewery. The tap room features a long, sturdy bar surrounded by plenty of short and tall tables ready to receive the thirsty masses that have already begun to invade.
Reclaimed wood, which makes appearances in too many places to count, adorns tall ceilings laced with piping and infrastructure. As you enter from Pine Street and go to the left, you’ll find a surprising additional room with more seating, games and shuffleboard. The back of the tap room overlooks a large lower level production area, beer tanks and all.
It appears they’ll have several of their own beers on tap as well as guest taps and a snacky menu similar to what’s available at other local breweries like Hamburg and Resurgence. The menu features collaborations with neighbor Elm Street Bakery (Beer Braised Pork Belly with Elm St. Sauerkraut-Apple Butter, $12) and West Side Bakery BreadHive (Breadhive Pretzel with mustard-beer-cheese, $5) plus other delicious-sounding goodies.[sc:Centerpost-1-700-150 ]
It’s clear from go that this will be a ridiculously popular hangout for East Aurorians and jealous friends in nearby towns.
The shinny new tap room is crafted with brick and wood from around the region, including the Richardson Olmsted Complex which is currently undergoing it’s own monster renovation downtown.
It may be the first of it’s kind in East Aurora (in a while anyways), but 42 North Brewing is very much keeping in theme with the rest of the area’s resurgence – taking what’s old and making it new again.
The brewery is named after the parallel coordinate on which East Aurora sits, the 42nd. Believed by the 42 North team to be unparalleled in many ways, especially in it’s hopiful history.
In addition to the tap room overlooking the production area, beer, food and board games, 42 North has an outdoor beer garden full of community picnic tables. They’ve gone all out, and it shows.
The tap room is having a soft opening this week. Stop by and see East Aurora’s coolest new drinking spot for yourself.
