If you’re like me, you remember spending summer days making boondoggle at the playground, or slaving over beaded bracelets to make sure you had the most. (AKA two arm fulls…)
Summer, kids, and art. They pretty much go hand-in-hand, and for good reason too. Artistic adventures keep kiddos busy (read: out of trouble) while also allowing them a creative outlet that they actually enjoy! And if you’re a parent, you know how ridiculously valuable that is. If not, you can probs stop reading now and/or forward this article to your friend who is. 😉
The YARD is an outdoor summer art class founded by Nancy Amico, an art teacher of 30 plus years. The unique program welcomes kids ages 6 to 18 daily throughout the summer and encourages curiosity.

At The YARD, kids can explore a wide array of creative studio art in nature in a small group setting. Classes are held in the backyard daily from 9 am – 11 am with options for both one or two hour classes. During drawing and painting classes students will get wide exposure to drawing mediums, learn color theory with acrylic painting/canvas, and skill development/technique. High quality supplies are provided as well as a snack during class.
Looking for a new way to celebrate a birthday party? The YARD also offers private birthday party options. Contact Nancy by phone (716-4721138) or email ( for more info about private events or classes! Year-round Saturday classes are also available from 9 am – 11 am.
