Elmwood Village is perfect for exploring any time of the year, especially when you have a special someone to share in the adventure with. There’s so much to see and do no matter the time of day. That’s why it makes our list as one of the best spots in the Nickel City to have a perfect day date.
For the second installment of this series, we’re taking you to three different stops in the Elmwood Village that will not only help you get to know your date better but will also make sure you both have a ton of fun together.

Get Cultured

At the tippy top of the village, you’ll find The Burchfield Penney Art Center and it’s your first stop of the day. It is dedicated to the work of Charles E. Burchfield and other distinguished artists of the Western New York area. Pick your dates brain as the two of you mosey around the museum and judge pieces of art you (most likely) know nothing about – it’s the best part of going to a museum!
Admissions for adults are just $10 and The Burchfield Penney currently has a range of exhibitions that are sure to spark unique conversations between you two lovebirds. There are also guided tours available every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 2 p.m. in case you’d rather leave it to the experts. You’ll leave feeling confident you asked all the right questions and full of facts to spit out at your next cocktail party – a total win.

Nom Noms Time

Now that you’re all cultured-up, we bet you’re hungry. We recommend heading into a coffee shop or restaurant to get your energy back up. Luckily, there are several spot to choose from on Elmwood Avenue. Check out the new Tipico for a great cup of coffee or Cafe Aroma is always a hit depending where on Elmwood you end up. For a classy, yet casual lunch at a newer spot you may both have yet to experience (there’s nothing like trying something new together!) head to JT’s on Elmwood. Expect pasta dishes, salads, and wood-fired pizzas. No matter which you choose, a relaxing meal is perfect to play 20 questions while noshing on something delicious.

Stroll from Shop to Shop

After warming up inside with a warm drink, it’s time to head outside and take a stroll. The best part about this area is the numerous small businesses and boutiques that are oh so fun to pop in and browse – it’s guaranteed you’ll find something that you both will enjoy. There are a lot to choose from: Shopcraft, Half & Half, Pasteurized Tees and Elmwood Pet Supplies (to get something special for a four-legged friend). For a more thorough guide at the many shops on Elmwood, here’s a nifty guide to help narrow down where you and your date should go.
The best part about walking around Elmwood with someone you’re getting to know is that it’s incredibly casual. Stop in to whatever store catches either of your eye and strike up a conversation about pretty much anything. The pressure of sitting across from each other at a fancy restaurant is completely taken away when you get outside and explore together during the day.

After your Elmwood adventure, hopefully you’ll leave your day date feeling like you got to know someone a little better and itching to see them again. And besides all the small talk, museums, and coffee consumed together, isn’t that what it’s all about?
Stay tuned for our next day date guide for…wait for it… Allentown! And in case you missed the first one, here’s a guide to a perfect Downtown Buffalo Day Date.
