If you’ve ever thought to yourself, ‘I should really go check out Lewiston one of these days,’ prepare to move it to the top of your list by the end of this rant/love letter. Because whether you live right in Lewiston or you’re one of the many Western New Yorkers who procrastinate even the most pleasurable of experiences, there’s tons to eat/see/do/learn in this historic town, and we’re willing to bet you’ve barely scratched the surface.
Enter Lewiston Culinary Tours – AKA one of the best ways to get up close and personal with the captivating food and history Lewiston has to offer. The culinary tour allows you to discover the area through delicious food tastings from 7 different local spots (more on that later) while on a guided tour with tons of delightful info on this quintessential small town.

Here’s how it works:
You’ll start off the tour along Lewiston’s beautiful waterfront (remember to wear comfortable shoes and apparel and bring rain gear if the weather is looking sketchy). From there, you and your tour group (all ages and fitness levels are welcome!) will set out on a roughly 3 hour walking tour, hitting awesome local places like The Silo Restaurant – featured on Man vs. Food, Carmelo’s – an award winning, chef-owned restaurant, The Village Bake Shoppe – a scratch bakery, Brickyard Pub & BBQ, and more. Food is included in the price of the tour and have no fear, you will leave full, so go ahead and count on this for lunch.
As you wind through the adorable Village you learn plenty from The Roaming Table’s knowledgeable tour guides who will point out tidbits like the significant role the town played in the Underground Railroad, the War of 1812, and even it’s ties to the mafia….say whaaaat?
Interesting and delicious. What more can you ask for?
Tours with Lewiston Culinary Tours are held Wednesday through Saturday from 1-4pm and cost $49 per adult or $35 per “young foodie” 12 and under. Tickets are limited for each tour and fill up fast so make sure to browse their calendar for a date that works for you and then jump on it without hesitation!
