Seafood boil is super popular in larger cities like Toronto, New York City, and Boston. Lucky for us, there’s a restaurant here in Buffalo that’s committed to making Buffalo a destination for a tasty seafood boil too.

Meet The Crabman – a newish seafood restaurant that opened back in August 2019. Here’s what you need to know about this seafood spot.

1. You can build your own boil.

The Crabman specializes in Cajun-style seafood boil. They have special house sauces at different spice levels to meet expectations of any and every seafood lover. Here’s how it works.

Pick your seafood type:

  • Clams
  • Snow Crab Legs
  • King Crab Legs
  • Dungeness Crab
  • Mussels
  • Crawfish
  • Shrimp
  • Lobster
  • Lobster Tail

Pick your sauce:

  • Dry (no sauce)
  • Lemon Pepper
  • Original Cajun
  • Garlic Butter
  • House Special (all the sauces combined)

Pick a spice level:

  • Mild
  • Medium
  • Spicy
  • Fire

BTWs a seafood boil is exactly what it sounds like a bunch of seafood and spices cooked in a pot of boiling water and served family style. Each seafood you pick comes with potatoes and half corn. Adding sausage and boiled eggs to it is also popular.

2. You get a hands-on experience.

They cook steam and boil the seafood here, so it stays extra fresh and healthy. Don’t be afraid to get messy! After all, the more mess you make, the more fun you’ll have.

Your food will arrive in a plastic bag and a bucket. And don’t worry, they provide plates per request if you prefer to eat your seafood that way. They also provide disposable gloves, a bib, a shell cracker tool, and a garbage bag for your scraps. All the essentials for a true seafood boil experience.

3. They have options beyond a boil.

Bring your friend that’s seafood boil curious. They have fish fry, crab cakes, shrimp, calamari baskets., and more. You can also order a few non-seafood options like the hush puppies, edamame, cajun fries, fried wings, cajun wings, chicken fingers, etc.

The Crabman is a super cool destination if you are looking to explore a new style of eating. Check them out and tell them who sent you.
