Fall is generally one of the nicest times to live in Buffalo, and if you are a music fan, then this fall is going to be even better. With dozens of fantastic bands passing through town over the next couple months, deciding on who to catch is no easy task. Sso if you need some help being pointed in the right direction, we have you covered. Here are the 10 shows happening in Westren New York that should be on your radar for the month of October.

 

 

1. Pixies

The legendary college rock group is set to make a very rare theatre appearance supporting the group’s latest album, 2016’s “Head Carrier.”

 

2. Mitski

DATE: October 3rd

LOCATION: The Tralf Music Hall

2016’s breakthrough singer/songwriter will ride her buzz into the Theatre District music venue.

 

3. Frankie Cosmos

DATE: October 3rd

LOCATION: Mohawk Place

Frequent collaborator of the indie-electronic act Porches, the DIY, anti-folk artist will roll through town as she continues to tour in support of 2016’s “Next Thing.”

 

4. The Leones

DATE: October 6th

The haunting dream-pop outfit returns with its annual Halloween show. Guests encouraged to bring a new child’s Halloween costume to donate to Gateway Longview.

 

 

5. Dreambeaches

DATE: October 13th

LOCATION: Milkie’s on Elmwood

The rising Buffalo alt-pop act will be celebrating the release of the new EP “Disappearing Act” on local imprint Admirable Traits.

 

6. Phoenix

DATE: October 14th

LOCATION: Cumulus Festival Grounds

The long-running French synth-pop group is set to headline the inaugural HRVST Festival. Manchester Orchestra, the Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon, Joywave and more will fill out the lineup.

 

7. One More Time: A Tribute to Daft Punk

DATE: October 14th

Originally set to take place at the recently closed Waiting Room, the tribute evening will move to the less than desirable Chippawa club to present a night of music from the French electronic duo.

 

8. Wolf Parade

DATE: October 15th

The Canadian cult band is back in Buffalo for the first time since 2008 break to play songs off of the upcoming new album “Cry Cry Cry.”

 

 

9. Craig Finn w/John K. Samson

DATE: October 27th

LOCATION: The Leopard Lounge

The Hold Steady frontman and former lead singer of the beloved Canadian act the Weakerthans will team up for a double bill showcase of two of rock music’s finest songwriters.

 

10. Lazlo Hollyfeld & Friends Play Arcade Fire

DATE: October 27th

LOCATION: Mohawk Place

After tackling the dance-punk icons of LCD Soundsystem last year, the Buffalo experimental rock group will gather a boat load of friends to pay tribute to the Montreal indie rock titans. Different Strokes, a Strokes tribute featuring members of the Slums, Humble Braggers and Feverbox, will open the show.
