Despite some big name acts set for the stages at larger spaces like the First Niagara Center, Artpark, and Canalside, and festivals like Jam in the Valley, the summer slate for live music routing through Buffalo has been a bit on the slow side, which means writing this post required a bit more research this time around. Thankfully, Buffalo’s local acts are helping to pick up the slack this month, once again reminding you that sometimes the best live acts are right here in Western New York. Here are the top 11 shows that should be on your radar for the month of July.
 

Seahaven

Preservation Jazz Hall Band

Formerly of the DIY collective Bomb the Music Industry!, the unfiltered Long Island songwriter is set to make his return appearance to Western New York.

 

Sugar City Anniversary Party

DATE: July 23rd
LOCATION: Sugar City & Resurgence Brewery

The DIY space will be throwing a two part anniversary party, taking over the Niagara St. block. First, a five band bill of indie act’s will take over Sugar City’s home base followed by the Chronological Dance Party spanning four decades of dance music at the local brewery across the street.

 

All Them Witches

Not to be confused with local math rockers All of Them Witches, the Nashville psych act fusion of blues, sludge, and stoner-rock should not be missed.
