7 Shows That Should Be All Over Your Radar in February

Buffalo’s summer concert season finally started to take shape as recently announced acts like Jack White, the Decemberists, Nathaniel Rateliff and more gave us plenty reason to look ahead to much warmer times.

It is, though, only February, so for the time being let’s focus on the now and enjoy some solid shows that the month has to offer. Here are the 7 shows that should be on your radar for the month of February.



1. Different Strokes – A Strokes Tribute

WHERE: Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar

Members of Humble Braggers, the Slums and Feverbox team up to pay tribute to the influential early aughts garage rock band at the Allentown hotspot.


2. Sugar City Soul Night

WHERE: Milkie’s on Elmwood

The Niagara St. DIY collective returns to the Elmwood Village lounge for the Valentine’s Day edition of its popular retro dance series.



3. First Ward

The hard-driving rock outfit of longtime musician Zak Ward takes the stage with psych outfit Deadwolf and raucous guitar act Sonny Baker.



4. Dwanye Gretzky

Popular Toronto party cover band makes its latest visit to WNY with its high energy nostalgia in tow to play Town Ballroom’s intimate front lounge.


5. Steak & Cake 7th Anniversary Party

WHEN: February 17th

WHERE: Curly’s

The long-running (seven years to be exact) DIY record label celebrates another year with help from Award Show, HOP HOP, the NYBRKFST and more in its west side basement headquarters.


6. The Cure vs The Smiths Dance Party

WHEN: February 24th

WHERE: Buffalo Iron Works

Transmission Dance Party is back in the Cobblestone District to preside over the yearly battle (15 years and counting) between the two 80’s heavyweight acts to decide post-punk supremacy.



7. Andrew Bird

WHERE: UB’s Center for the Arts

The eclectic folk songwriter, violinist and whistler returns to WNY to perform at the North Campus’ Center for the Arts Mainstage Theatre.
