Founded back in 2017, Starring Buffalo’s mission has always been to build an artistic bridge between Broadway and Buffalo. How do they do that? By offering Buffalo audiences unparalleled access to Broadway’s greatest performers, and simultaneously providing opportunities for WNY students to learn from, work alongside, and be inspired by these stars.

Following this theme, Sunday in the Park with George will feature a combination of world-renowned Broadway actors as well as local talent from right here in Buffalo.

Broadway Actors

Lead roles in Sunday in the Park With George will be played by real-life couple Josh Young and Emily Padgett Young as onstage couple George and Dot.

Josh earned a Tony Award nomination for his stellar performance in Jesus Christ Superstar, and Emily has appeared in numerous successful Broadway shows including Side Show, Grease, and Bright Star.

Dozens of Western New York singers, dancers, and musicians will also be featured throughout the production, and the full original Broadway orchestrations will be played by 13 Buffalo musicians conducted by Dr. Alison d’Amato.

What’s even better? To enhance the experience and promote the show’s message about art and finding your voice, Starring Buffalo is also partnering with the Buffalo Institute of Contemporary Art (BICA) to transform the Shea’s 710 Theater lobby into an art gallery for the run of the show, where audience members will be able to admire the work and creations of several of Buffalo’s top contemporary artists.
