Their slogan is “If you don’t know your wines, know your winemaker” and we couldn’t agree more. Lucky for us, everyone who works at Ten Thousand Vines is a winemaker.
Ten Thousand Vines, located in Hamburg, is a local winery that uses the best international grapes imported from all over the world to craft small batches of wine. Unlike most wineries that make a few large batches of wine each year, Ten Thousand Vines makes lots of small batches, usually about 5 to thirty cases per tank, all year round. At any given point, they have about 40 tanks in production. That’s a lot of wine.
It’s not just the wine that will make you want to stay awhile, it’s also the atmosphere. The winery is located in a repurposed firehouse and jail, so it has some vintage charm, as well as ambient lighting and the coziest bar and tasting room. It will make you feel like you’re in the Californian wine country, even though you’re still in Hamburg.
Let’s get down to it- here is the wine they offer. In the past 10 years, this winery has created over 200 different wines from grapes grown in over a dozen different countries. Best Sellers? HMBG, California Pinot Noir, Italian Old World Red, and Cab Fare for reds. Best whites include Village Chardonnay, Tre, and Moscato. For those with more of a sweet tooth, they make many “sweet and fruity” wines. Highlights include Just Peachy, Black Bear, and Wild One.
As if the wine weren’t enough already, Ten Thousand Vines wants to help you learn too. They offer winemaking classes and boast the largest selection of winemaking materials in the region, in case you have ever wanted to dabble in the art of winemaking. They offer classes periodically, so you can learn firsthand from the pros.
So if you like your wines, you don’t have to go to wine country – you just have to go to Hamburg, NY. Ten Thousand Vines brings wine country to you.
