Welcome to the summer of beer gardens in Buffalo (and beyond). Never has there been so many. Never have they been so epic. One thing we absolutely love about beer gardens (you know, besides the beer, the lights, the oddball furniture, yard games and fun people) is that they are good for so many things. They’re the perfect destination for date night, a summer reunion with friends, a casual meal, grabbing a drink and making the most of our beautiful summer nights. Here’s where to find one near you:
Larkin District / Downtown
Depending on who you ask Hydraulic Hearth has the best beer garden in town. It’s equipped with everything a beer-garden lover could ever want, including great places to sit and relax, a bar with 12 craft beers and made-to-order shandies with fresh-squeezed juice, food trucks, strung lights, live music, close proximity to fun (Larkin Square) and to top it off, Shuffleboard. Plus if you’re a cocktail fan, we HIGHLY recommend heading inside to grab one.
West Side / Downtown
1250 Niagara St., Buffalo, NY 14213 / (716) 381-9868
This brewery’s beer garden is complete with fire pits, picnic tables, hanging lights, food truck visitors, garage doors, delicious snacks, and local beer brewed feet away from your spot in the garden. The inside of Resurgence is just as cool (giant Jenga anyone?). During winter months this is your best bet for an indoor beer garden.
Williamsville / Northtowns
Right off the beaten path in Williamsville find ridiculously delicious Spars’ sausages and an impressive draft list at Moor Pat. This garden extension of the coziest beer bar in the Northtowns is the ideal spot to eat and drink well while enjoying some cornhole in the sun. We mean it.
Canalside / Downtown
44 Prime Street, Buffalo NY
Does anyone else feel like Canalside is the center of the world? The fact that they have beer available in a cozy little beer garden by The Dish solidifies it. There’s nowhere else in the world we’d rather be. The dish offers a great view of the water one way and everything else the other.
Hamburg Brewing Co.
Hamburg / Southtowns
6553 Boston State Rd, Hamburg, NY 14075 / (716) 649-3249
Hamburg’s beer garden probably doesn’t look like the picture perfect picture you have in your head – it’s better, and it’s got actual gardens. Overlooking a beautiful pond, this is the ideal place to be on a sunny day in the Southtowns – Hamburg brew in hand.
Old First Ward / South Buffalo
73 Hamburg Street, Buffalo NY 14204 / (716) 855-8948
This beer garden sits in the heart of the Old Neighborhood just south of Buffalo. It’s complete with picnic tables and a walk up window for easy access to Old First Ward Brewing Co. beers and more delicious goodies from Gene McCarthy’s.
West Seneca / Southtowns
4350 Seneca St, West Seneca, NY 14224 / (716) 608-6155
Rusty Nickel has a low key kind of chill backyard beer garden perfect for lawn games and big groups. The wooded area surrounding the space makes for a relaxing atmosphere and a beer in hand always helps with that. Rusty Nickel also does a really fun beer-cocktail menu where they mix drinks made in part with beer for those just starting to get into the scene. #goodforthem
East Aurora / Southtowns
25 Pine St, East Aurora NY 14052 / (716) 805-7500
This Southtowns gem of a brewery opened three years ago and has been serving fantastic beer ever since. Their beer garden out back is open for the season complete with picnic tables, fire pits, strung lights, and good company!
Buffalo / Eastside
Buffalo / Eastside314 Myrtle Ave, Buffalo, NY 14204 / (716) 868-2218
It is the ideal summer to be outside so where else would you rather be crackin’ open some cold ones? One of Buffalo’s newest beer gardens has us wanting to come back every night to hang in their back-yard feel patio. You can tell they not only take pride in their amazing beer, but their atmosphere is on point as well!
