That time of year has arrived – when we scare ourselves silly for the fun of it.

Lucky for Western New Yorkers, there’s a new haunted spot in town this year, and itsnot for the faint of heart.

Feel the thrill of this immersive, three-fold experience consisting of a haunted hayride like no other, the haunted barn, and a haunted corn maze at The Haunted Forests in Newfane, NY.

The Haunted Hayride

When it comes to haunted hayrides, this one is a game changer. You will be on the edge of your seat clinging to your sanity as you venture into a deep fog emanating evil. You won’t want to miss a minute of the spooky tale told through the wagon speaker while simultaneously witnessing the horrifying sights in the woods as the begotten tale comes to life right in front of you.

Here lies the haunting legacy of the Gogan family. In the early twentieth century, they owned this property that you will visit at your own risk. Merl and Lena Gogan raised three sons and a daughter. Unfortunately, these kids were far from normal children. All three sons were rumored to have been born with a horrible deformity that will cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand up. They were never seen without their creepy masks; a terrifying sight for anyone who came across them. Grover was said to have been a “prized hunter” who turned out to be hunting more than just large game. One trip to the haunted forest and you might be next in his trophy room.

Their daughter Elphaba, known as “Seer” was able to see the future. What’s especially haunting about her clairvoyance is her premature, untimely death that tragically occurred after an exorcism done on her by a local priest. It went gravely wrong. Legend has it she was buried somewhere on this property. In a state of denial, Merl tried desperately to bring his daughter back to life by using old medieval science and biology, but this experiment went terribly awry. The result was the conjuring of an unreckoned force of evil as the restless spirit of the dead walk upon this haunted property with a taste for human blood.

The Hautned Barn

What was once the home of the twisted Gogan family is now the Haunted Barn. Your fight or flight instincts will be kicking in as you learn the gruesome tale behind how the Gogan family disappeared. While you venture through the eerie barn there is something wicked in the air- a sense that murder happened right where you are standing. The startling return of the Gogan family comes to fruition as you experience the undead like never before.

The Haunted Corn Maze

To top off this bone-chilling experience, take a stroll through the Haunted Corn Maze. Seem lost? Just know that the wicked Gogan family will be following you around through the dark. Upon stepping foot in this labyrinth of terror there is no guarantee you will find your way out. You will feel an evil presence looming in the air, and with every step forward you take two steps back into the clutches of Seer.

Unique Experiences

The fun doesn’t end in the woods! Fire-pit rentals are available for any occasion – groups of friends, birthday parties, or just relax by the fire – day or night. The reserved areas seat up to 20-30 people.

Family Friendly Fun

In addition to haunted attractions at night throughout September and October, families can enjoy Family Fun days on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4pm. Included in Family Fun tickets are a family fun hayride and corn maze where they take the scare out and replace it with comedy and songs for the kiddos.

Plus don’t forget to stop by the Farmer’s market full of gifts, food and drinks to get your pumpkins for the season.
