The Lexington Co-op has been helping Buffalonians celebrate the holidays for half a century! Starting in 1971 as a small storefront on Lexington Ave (hence the name), today the co-op spans two stores – one in the Elmwood Village and one in North Buffalo on Hertel Ave.

The co-op is stocked full of fresh meats, cheeses, and produce, and aisles of grocery staples… but it’s far from your average grocery store. Alongside your cereal and bananas, the co-op stocks more than 2,000 local food products and has an in-house kitchen and bakery preparing tasty foods for every appetite.
There’s a lot of love for the holidays at the co-op and they make it easy and fresh for all of their shoppers. This month the co-op plans to bake more than 500 pounds of holiday cookies. “Most people don’t realize these cookies are made here,” says Bakery Manager Rachel Jolbert, “we hand-make our baked good in stores from scratch.” Alongside cookies, shoppers will find fresh-baked cheesecakes, pies and more.

If you have foodies, chefs, or proud members of the 716 on your shopping list, the co-op can make gift giving local and easy. From chocolates and coffees to cards and wreaths, you can cross names off your list while supporting one of 124 local businesses supported by the co-op.
Hosting or attending holiday parties? The co-op can make that easy too. In one stop you can shop craft beer, local hard cider, meats, seafood and cheese. “The minute I hear I’m invited to a holiday party, I’m grabbing some local cheese, Top Seedz crackers, and a bottle of South Hill hard cider,” says Grocery Manager Will Thompson.

Before you gather, give, entertain or feast, make a stop at the co-op this holiday season. Whether you’re an owner or not, everyone is welcome to shop. They have everything you need to celebrate the holidays with convenient locations, friendly staff and the most delicious raspberry cheesecake you’ll ever try!
