So you just moved into a new house or new apartment? Look at you getting your life together and adulting! Go on with your fancy self.
Look, I’m not throwing shade at IKEA. Their meatballs are awesome and who knew I needed these napkins with witty phrases on them until I went there? But if you want an adult home with character it’s crucial to invest in a few unique pieces for various rooms throughout your place. Plus in Buffalo, supporting local has always been so important to the community. Enter The Story Garage, the perfect win win opportunity. Disclaimer, as happens in these kinds of thrifting situations, the store was slightly picked over at the time of our visit. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover because from the outside, it’s no beauty and quite run down. It really just looks like a giant garage in the middle of East Ferry. The inside, however, contains pieces to spice up any room in your home from trunks and couches to rustic decor and fancy bar carts just dying to hold all of your locally distilled spirits. I can hear the epic cocktails being shaken now.
Like with any antique shop or flea market, you’ll want to invest some time to thumb through the books and decorations, envisioning where you can place things throughout your home that would add the character you’re looking for without compromising the general style you’re going for. You can add unique pieces you find at Story Garage like art or an antique vintage chair, which is the perfect statement piece for any modern room. They even have huge pieces to complete a smaller room, filling up an entire wall.
You’ll find some furniture perfect and ready the way it is, along with a few very fairly priced items that might need a little love and a few tweaks, but this is a wonderful inexpensive way to complete the process of furnishing your home or apartment while supporting local businesses.
