While a fish fry can be enjoyed pretty much anytime of year, in the midst of Lent, these beer battered creations are on extra high alert.
Luckily for us, Buffalo just happens to be home to one of the best spots to get a fish fry!
A recent article from Mashed rounded up “The 16 Absolute Best Fish Fries In The US” and one of Buffalo’s very own is on the list. Can you guess who it is?

Coming in at #8 is Wiechec’s Lounge.
The article describes Wiechec’s Lounge as “…a Kaisertown mainstay since 1964 when Henry and Rose Wiechec started serving beer and bar favorites. In the decades since then, their son Mike and his sister-in-law Laurie run the kitchen, turning out burgers, soups, wings (because Buffalo), and legendary fish fries.”
Wiechec’s Lounge has made quite a few of our fish fry lists here in Buffalo but, national recognition is a whole new level. How cool is that?!
So if you’re looking for your next fish fry spot, just know at Wiechec’s you’ll be eating one of the best.
