The ever-developing Hertel Ave is home to a new coffee and brunch spot called New Moon Cafe, on the same block as Deep South Taco.
According to New Moon, they’re taking regular cafe food up a notch with gourmet options, offering an assortment of creative breakfast burritos, paninis (yes, for breakfast), Belgian waffles, and french toast made with croissants.
For lunch, expect paninis and sandwiches named after your favorite music legends – you know, John Lennon, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix. They have a healthy mix of unique and classic flavor combos. There’s also a section of the menu called “Buff Mex”, which we’re into. A variety of takes on Tex Mex can be found here – think “Frito Burrito” with spicy chicken, potato, black beans, salsa, lettuce, and tomato, toasted and smothered with red and green chili topped with Fritos corn chips.
Vegetarians rejoice, they have meatless options as well. Aside from sandwiches, New Moon serves up salads, soups, chili, and quesadillas.

They also have a relatively inexpensive “bottomless” tea bar, hot or cold and an “eclectic” selection of hot teas with iced tea specials changing daily. If you’re more of a coffee drinker, they have plenty of espresso options as well.
New Moon is mostly unique to Buffalo- there’s only one other New Moon location out there, in Colorado. The owner came back to open one in Buffalo because she grew up here.
The cafe is open Tuesday through Sunday for breakfast and lunch from 7:30 am – 3 pm.
