Simply having red hair is special. Seriously, less than 2% two percent of the human population has natural red hair.
From the Netherlands to Ireland to the UK, redheads are celebrated all around the world with special events. Ellicottville is joining in the annual tradition by hosting its first redhead-themed event this summer!
Natural or not, you’re invited to this weekend-long celebration for redheads! It’s called Red Head Days and it’s happening on June 18 and June 19 in Ellicottville.

Here’s what to expect:
When you register for Red Head Days, you get a special swag bag complete with your choice of shirt, a tote bag, a button, a koozie, and a beer glass for just $30!
There will be a “race” called the Red Head Zero-K. It starts at Ellicottville Brewing Company, stops at Finnerty’s Tap Room, and ends at Madigan’s.
The local 4H group is bringing unicorns, and they will be accepting donations for their program.
Come styled to impress because there will be several redhead themed contests. You’ll have the chance to compete for the following titles.

- Best Red Beard
- Largest Ginger Family
- Ginger Twins
- Best Ginger Curls

The Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce is organizing this special event and its members are coming together for this village-wide celebration of redheads.
All of the participating members will have specials going on throughout the event. The details aren’t public knowledge yet, so make sure to watch for all of the offers from the different businesses.
