Have you ever mentioned to someone that you’re from New York and they just assume you mean the Big Apple? What many people don’t realize is there is way more to experience in New York State than just the bustling city life of NYC.
A recent article from The Guardian is highlighting must-see spots around NYS outside of NYC and our region made the list!
So where should road-trippers go when making the venture to WNY? The Guardian puts emphasis on visiting the Niagara Falls attraction –Maid of the Mist, but also mentions making the trip to nearby Buffalo.
The article states, “Everyone should experience the wonder of Niagara Falls at least once in their lifetime, and a road trip from NYC is an unforgettable way to do so (it’s about a seven-hour drive from the Big Apple). Hike through the state park which surrounds the US-side of the Falls before hopping onto the Maid of the Mist boat tour. The iconic experience departs from the US side and has recently gone fully electric; it’s a must to really feel the power of this natural wonder. There are ample accommodation options around Niagara Falls, but an alternative is to spend the night 25 minutes away in Buffalo, where you can visit museums including iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, see theatre, and, of course, try some of those famously delicious Buffalo wings.”
We have to say even as WNYers, this sounds like the right kind of way to spend the weekend in our region.
