Down the street and over the bridge from Larkin Square and Hydraulic Hearth sits the new Tommyrotter Distillery at 500 Seneca Street. The Buffalo born company opens for business to the public in the old F.N. Burt Building on Saturday, July 18.
The new retail space is small, sleek and filled with good-looking goodies for sale. Retail items include bottles of Tommyrotter small-batch spirits – vodka ($30/bottle) and gin ($35/bottle) and Tommyrotter merch as well as cocktail recipe books. You know, so you can put your new spirits to good use immediately. Genius!
Tommyrotter founders Robert Finan and Sean Insalaco have been hard at work making the place presentable. The transformation included knocking down part of a brick wall to make way for a staircase from the mezzanine tasting room to the production space which was once used by New Era Cap. They’ve also included a large window looking out over the production floor where the magic happens. Down the road, expect to be able to take tours of the distillery while learning more about the process and the history of the industry.
While Tommyrotter is starting with vodka and American gin made with New York State grain, they hope to expand their gin selection and sell whiskey in the near future. Keep an eye out for Tommyrotter in cocktails, bars and liquor stores throughout Western New York in coming months.
If you’re wondering who’s responsible for the spot on branding, it’s Block Club. They nailed it.
Free parking is available in the lot across the street from the distillery.
