Over the past few years along with kayaking, stand-up paddle boards (SUP boards) have become a mainstream way to enjoy the water and/or a workout in Buffalo and Western New York. Thanks to the plentiful water access points we have in the region, getting on a SUP board is easier than ever these days.

1 – 5. Longboards Paddle Co.

This company is posted up at several different locations from Hamburg to the Outer Harbor. Plus they offer rental options for kayaks and hydro-bikes, and turbo paddle boats in addition to SUP boards, making this is perfect option if you’re hitting the water with anyone who would rather not stand up.

SUP board rentals are $20/hour, $38 for 3 hours, and $60 for the entire day.

6. BFLO Harbor Kayak

Paddle board (and kayak rentals) include everything you need to enjoy a relaxing trip on the water. Explore the Buffalo River at your leisure, or book one of their tours to find out even more about Buffalo’s great industrial past! Paddle board rentals cost $25 per hour and include paddles and PFDs.

With paddle boards and kayaks that are “very beginner friendly” SUP Erie Adventures promises to get you out on the water having fun with a little quick and easy instruction. Paddle board (and kayak) rentals are available at $25 per person for one hour, $55 per person for a half day (3 hours), $75 per person for a full day (6 hours) and $135 per person for a two day rental.

This crew also offers guided paddling trips where you can cruise along the sea cliffs, rivers, or lake shores and discover the various forms of wildlife including bald eagles and herons. They also have specialty classes like a SUP Yoga class where you can learn how to be a floating yogi on the water.
