In a fun-loving turn of events, you can now rent “FLOATmingo” paddle boats at Hoyt Lake. This is in addition to the row boats that are also available for rental on Hoyt Lake each season.

What is a FLOATmingo boat you ask? It’s a paddle boat shaped like a flamingo, of course.

According to WKBW, The Flamingo is the unofficial mascot of Olmsted – “FLOmingo” for Frederick Law Olmsted. The boat rentals were added to celebrate FLOmingo Day on June 21.

The Boats are available for rent at $15 per half hour and can be rented in front of The Terrace in Delaware Park. The rentals are run by the Buffalo Maritime Center and run from 12 – 8 pm every day.

Rent Row Boats at Hoyt Lake

As of Friday, June 5, Hoyt Lake row boat rentals are also open to the public for the season. The Olmsted Parks Conservancy maintains the rowboats at Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park. The boats, built for the Conservancy by students in the Hand to Hand Program at the Buffalo Maritime Center, are available for rental for $10 per half hour Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, you can contact Paul at 716.227.0333.
